I would take him on our team with no hesitation. The guy can do everything..stop the run...drop in coverage....Pressure the QB....Think about that for a minute? seriously
never will a poster suggest ANY player on this board without someone finding SOMETHING with that player, that's just how people are, never satisfied, I would love to have this guy in a Jets Uni
2006 Scouting Report - Scouts Inc. Grade: 79 | Key Alert: None Comment: Thomas is athletic and extremely versatile. He can play many different roles in multiple schemes and is a fine special teams player. He has steadily refined his technique from a two-point stance. He has the size and functional strength to set the edge against the run. He has improved his block recognition and hand use. He can stack and hold the point or avoid and move through trash. He is a good pursuit defender. He has a knack for timing up blitzes. He is a strong tackler in the box. He has an explosive first step and good initial quickness on the pass rush. He works hard and can bend the edge and close on quarterbacks. He has active hands and can grab to get on a blocker's edge. He can be disruptive off inside games and zone fires. He gets his hands up and into passing lanes. Thomas isn't very fluid and still could refine his overall technique. He is cut high and doesn't bend very well. He has some limitations in coverage. He needs to be more explosive with his hands when separating from blocks. He has few pass-rush countermoves.
Just for the record, Thomas played corner once. and it was to intimidate chad johnson. its not like you can throw him in there and and expect him to cover. hes versatile at the LB and DE positions. GET HIM!
Amen. I don't understand how anyone can be against him. The Ravens also have two edge rushers in Suggs and Thomas and they didn't seem to have a problem. Not to mention San Diego which Mantana brought up already. He is a complete player and one of the most versatile 3-4 guys out there. He also plays special teams which is a big thing with Mangini.
The way I see it: Thomas would kick ass if we signed him, but with this draft being as deep as it is with talented OLB's...I doubt we do. We could get someone younger, cheaper, with great potential in the draft, and considering this teams youth...that isn't a bad thing.
This would be a great addition. Having the Thomas' on the outside would be a great way to get some pressure on the QB. I really hope we get this guy...
are you saying Adalius Thomas cant cover? did you know that he played 9 of the defensive positions last year? he lined up at everything besides FS and #2 CB. and yes, he played #1 corner covering Chad Johnson. Thomas is one of the best overal LB's out there and is a good cover guy.
