I saw a cry for this in the past few days, and I was actually planning on addressing it soon. I guess I like this. I feel I treat people with respect either way, but for those who don't, this is perfect.
I've never understood the relevance of post counts to begin with. I watched the Jets avidly for 30 years before I even thought to look for a Jets related message board. Until a couple summers ago I thought the Nirvana board I post on was a kind of original oddity on the Internet. Who knew?
I agree. Quantity of posts mean nothing. And again, if my comment to a certain poster this morning somehow instigated the change, I apologize to the board. Here is my reply to him regarding his Stadium thread: I'm not sure I fully comprehend, but if you found my comment concerning your number of posts abusive, you certainly have my personal apology. My intent was not to attack you personally because you were new to the board. My point was that I can't understand what's to be gained by rehashing all the negatives that were discussed ad nauseum way back then and it's time to move on. You had a low number of posts, so perhaps you didn't know that. But I hope you know there's a difference between my pointing that out to Champ and abusing you as a new poster simply because you have a low number of posts. But if you're new to the board, I can understand why you might have felt that way, so lets both peace out and have fun discussing the Jets here, which is all I ever come here for in the first place.
I have been a jet fan for the better part of 27 years. While I am not considered a regualr on the board, I do appreciate reading the commentary and putting in my two bits when I feel like it. While a lot of this stuff may be fun to read not all of it warrants a response. I have a great deal of fun seeing other opinions on the Jets
See my reply to your reply. I think he was talking about the # of posts in the thread he had started and not necessarily his total # of posts.
That’s O.k. I guess. I don’t think this will stop people from jumping off on someone. The major problem I see is some posters long term and new read three sentences in your post and jump all over you, without reading the context of your post. I have also not fully looked a post over and have immediately drawn a conclusion that was not directly related to what was posted. Be nice!
Bastards!! My wife promised me a BJ if I got to 5,000 posts... Besides how am I gonna recognize the less knowledgeable posters now?
interesting... i could honestly care less about my post count... i've been here for a couple of years now, and i'm still well below 1000. what i've noticed is not really the abuse of members with lower counts, rather people accusing people of post whoring just to get there number up. c'mon fellas, if your going to brag about something, maybe about how many girls you've smashed, or your SAT score... something relevant. post count on an internet message board... not so much. it doesn't make you wiser, slicker or more socially relevant (even in a virtual world) by any account
I've seen a lot of people on this forum with more post counts than me, but are much less knowledgeable about the Jets. For future refrence, I probably know more than anyone Im replying to
So is there anyway at all I could see a post count if I wanted to? For example, a year from now, I just wanna see how many I have.
lol, ditto man. I've never understood the whole post count bravado. Doesn't it really indicate we spend waaaaaaay too much time on this board?
