Jenkins has already come back from the ACL tear before. Granted he's older and I believe it was the same knee, but he knows what to do.

Leon had to have emergency surgery to save his career... I'll type it again - Leon had to have emergency surgery to save his career

I have all my faith in Rex, like I do Donnie Walsh. I feel that Rex knows exactly what is best for this team, and I support it. I'll miss LW, he was a favorite, but this was no little ding for an injury. Excited for all the new guys.

I remember watching an interview with Jenkins on either NFL Network or ESPN during the playoffs, he said that he couldn't even be on the sidelines with his teammates during the playoff games because he knee was so weak that if his leg got hit on a play on the sidelines that it would destroy it and he would have to start from square one.

nope, it was his other knee. which is a good thing.

unfortunately, he's ran out of knees after this one.

    same....can't wait for july 1st.
not trying to get my hopes up on lebron, but i think we'll be mindful of our cap space and not overpay garbage players or try to make someone who's not the "main guy" on our team. i.e. dont build around bosh alone...or anyone outside of lebron, or wade (who's staying in miami for sure). if we got bosh and joe johnson instead of lebron i think it'd be a pretty good offseasn. or bosh and rudy gay

I'm intimately aware of ACL injuries.

My ACL is now a sliver of my patellar tendon.

You are jaded because you see a lot of athletes come back from the injury and also because it's common. Not always the case.

Gut-wrenching is seeing your starting QB go down in the first quarter of the first game of a season in which you're supposed to "win it all". (Sorry for the memory folks...Achilleseverde, etc.)

What happened today is the kind of progress I wish we could have experienced so many years past. I've always envied the teams who can ship in and ship out players without missing a competitive beat, ie Pats, Colts, Yankees, Red Sox, Lakers, Red Wings...etc.
These are the moves of championship teams.
In the past, typical SOJ draft days were always filled with a dependence on players who were absolutely needed to change the team's landscape overnight, and bring it into contending caliber - added pressure on most of our old busts who failed on the big stage.

Every move we make now is pressure-free, added security - no move has been an incredibly life or death decision. I mean as dynamic as Leon was he wasn't even needed in the most exciting season in a decade.

And not to keep piling up on Faneca - but he was the most gassed Jet on the field in January. Guys like that who remain with conference championship teams that fall short of SB are the reason a lot of those teams DON'T return to the conference championship two years in a row. The moves we're making are hedging the bet to go back and beyond.

These are not the times that try men's souls...these are, happy days are here again timey times.

With this draft, we are absolutely stacked on offense for years to come:

    QB: Sanchez (23)
    RB: Greene (24), McKnight (22)
    FB: Conner (23)
    WR: Edwards (27), Holmes (26), Cotchery (27)
    TE: Keller (25)
    OT: D'Brick (26), Ducasse (22)
    OG: Slauson (24), Moore (29)
    C: Mangold (26)

Barring injuries or contractual difficulties, this group could be together for the next 4-5 years and grow into an absolute powerhouse in the NFL.

If this draft was gut wrenching for you then you have a very easily wrenched gut.

    Randy Lange:

Following a wild Saturday in which the Jets traded Leon Washington to Seattle, drafted two more backs for the offense (RB Joe McKnight and FB John Conner) and confirmed the release of perennial Pro Bowl guard Alan Faneca, general manager Mike Tannenbaum and head coach Rex Ryan met with reporters for a news conference that was less a postdraft wrapup than a Super mission restatement.

"We've kept the nucleus of our team," Ryan said. "We did lose some excellent players, but we've added a lot of tremendous players. Everything we do is for the betterment of our football team. It's easy to stand pat. We've had a lot of great people who've left our building, but we've got a ton of 'em still in it. We are committed to winning a championship here."

Wow. I have been wheeling in the mountains all day.

    What a shock.

I trust that Rex and company are making sound decisions with my investments.

Not for nothing but that loss was bad but as a long suffering Jets fan, it was far from gut wrenching.

I kind of wanted a pass rusher for the future too since Taylor's no long-term solution but hey we were the number one defense by a mile last year without one, and the AFC Championship game showed you can't have too many good CB's against these great offenses so I fully supported the CB with the first-round pick, especially given that he was a punt returner as well.

The other positions filled needs that came up considering Faneca was out the door one way or another and obviously we felt Leon wouldn't be what he was, plus there wasn't much of a role for him anyway with Greene and Tomlinson here and he was on the last year of a contract iirc. Plus that blocking FB is key to the running game and TR's not going to be here forever either.

If you thought that game was gut wrenching, then you should be thrilled the Jets took Kyle Wilson.

I was able to have a conversation this evening with someone under the employ of the Giants who pointed out that in order to be dealt (Leon) a player must pass a physical. How bad could Leon be? Can you trade damaged goods?
