Maybe the jets should actually make the deal to acquire Aaron Rodgers before they make a bunch of side moves? The Lazard deal was a huge overpay from the Jets perspective. Talented WR but not even really a #2 guy and they paid him like he was a very good #2.
Feel like “huge overpay” is a bit of hyperbole here. You’re not wrong in your assessment of Lazard, he’s a meh 2, but a good 3, and that’s the rate for a WR in this market now. Jakob Meyers got a very similar deal and I would say Lazard is better than him. It’s also just the price of “doing business” IMO. Similar to the Quincy situation, pay someone slightly more than their market value as a gesture of good faith towards the “bigger fish” you want.
I'd like to believe if he did make a decision after the Lazard signing he would tell the Packers and Jets before he told the public on the McAfee show. Key word "like to believe". Meaning that there is a less than 50% chance we hear breaking news tonight if he does give word to either team finally.
I would be absolutely floored if the Jets and Pack didn't know already. The media really doesn't seem to know shit.
Rodgers isn’t gonna give that info to anyone. It’s clear how he sees the Schefters/Rapoports/etc. of the world. This seems like exactly the thing he would do. Tell no one and announce it himself on McAfee.
Fuck me sideways. It is going down folks. 1 PM, a few hours before a trade can be executed Rodgers will announce to world he is coming to New York to win a Super Bowl.
