Id rather have 50 murderers on the street than have one innocent person get the death sentence. Just my opinion.
Yeah yeah I know they told you that in your college course but the reality is that an athlete is more likely to get away with a crime in which they are obviously guilty than the average joe so stop acting like Aaron Hernandez is actually innocent in the court of common sense
Hernandez basically left a trail of bread crumbs from his house to the murder scen and back. the only thing he forgot to do was check in on Facebook from the crime scene.
Guy probably gets chirped in every interaction for being famous, I expect he'll be in multiple altercations.
Its not a new concept, a lot of people feel the same way. Would you rather have innocent people in jail at the cost of convicting everyone or would you want murderers on the street so the innocent don't end up in jail. You can laugh now but there have been people sent to death row who had ZERO connection to the crime, NOTHING, they get pulled over because they were believed to be the one who committed a previous crime and next thing you know they are in court getting convicted, sent to death row for 10+ years, only to be exonerated because the criminal justice system completely failed and they were completely innocent. One guy was on vacation in Florida when he got pulled over and got charged with a bank robbery/murder that occurred like 2 weeks prior in which he wasnt even in the state, hell he had never been in florida in his life.
Why don't you post pictures of graves of the people who were put to death only to be found completely innocent. Stop being so one sided.
Soxx I am assuming you are young? I used to kind of feel that way when I was younger, in college. I was more worried about injustices and what not. But it's silly to say you'd rather see 50 murderers on the street (who's street? not yours...) than one innocent person get a death sentence, that's insane.. the system's not perfect by any means but for the most part when it pertains to violent crimes, the U.S. justice system is getting it right... As for Hernandez, we all know how the justice system works.. he's innocent till proven guilty, I guess. Either way he's a grade A scumbag, though and guilty in the court of public opinion. With people with his means who can afford top representation, you worry that he'll get released based on a formality. That wouldn't prove he's innocent though. Fortunately, he won't have that chance as it appears he is more stupid than anything else and practically gave himself away.. or as LTJF put it, did everything but post the murder on facebook. If you want to fight the crusade of proper justice, I suggest you pick a different poster boy than this d-bag Hernandez.. you might not look like such an idiot.
Yes young, and I respect your opinion. I see both sides to the arguement, and yes I am in college and have been fed liberal ideas for the last four years
From a legal standpoint of course, but I think at this point it's a safe conclusion that Aaron Hernandez is not exactly a stand-up guy. Guilty or not.
The Robert Kraft Defense. "We got duped". Hopefully teams (from the Pats to the Jets) stop enabling criminal behavior. Death penalty arg, not a criminal justice one
Too funny. Right out of the grade school handbook. And the grade school quote isn't the death penalty, it's innocents versus the guilty. _
Exactly. People that get arrested for multiple murders or multiple rapes aren't innocent people. Complete innocents walking down a bucolic suburban street don't get jumped by cops, arrested and arraigned on multiple counts--that just happens on TV or in Hollywood movies. The fact that criminals--REAL criminals have multiple crimes plead down or dismissed because of the criminal justice system or criminal case backlogs is NOT what the ideal of our criminal justice system was meant to be. Arguing ideals when faced with the realities of how stressed the system is is very naive. _
Pursuant to your request: soxxx, I understand where you're coming from but in a thread about Aaron Hernandez on TGG, do expect the "thumbs down" sentiment to rule the day. This is more about Ahern and not the unfortunate souls who got screwed by the system. Sorry but in the case of Ahern I don't think I'm going to lose any sleep waxing 'Perry Mason' over his legal prospects.
You know what Ron Brown said to Nicole Brown Simpson when they met in heaven? "Here's your fucking sunglasses." _
I don't know if Kraft got duped or not... I don't think he would have handed Hernandez a huge contract extension if he had known the extent of things. I don't mean out of moral obligation, I mean you don't pay a guy millions of dollars if you think he's going to kill someone and go to jail. The Patriots have something like $7M worth of dead money on their cap because of Hernandez. You guys can rip on Kraft all you want, but is he a dumb businessman? Absolutely not. And resigning Hernandez before his rookie deal ran out would be the stupidest move all-time if they had any indication the guy was a murderer. As for the fan base, like I said, we have no idea what these guys are like in real life. Sometimes it's a little more obvious than others, but all I really heard about AH was that he smoked pot at Florida. Not exactly a capital offense there.
You're right, Kraft wouldn't have handed Ahern an extension and yes as fans we don't really know these guys in real life. But at the same time, when media outlets coming off like "in the know" insiders arbitrarily carry water for the ownership of certain franchises by swallowing whole and parroting out self-serving mantras such as "The Patriot Way" and "The Classy Giants" while in the same breath going out of their way to either paint, infer, or exaggerate (pick one) another franchise in a perjorative manner, well, you get the picture: to a number of 'us' here, the "Patriot Way" chickens have come home to roost.
I hear ya. I actually hate the "Patriot Way" stuff. I honestly do. I think from a football standpoint, the organization does a lot of things right, but the notion that they're somehow different from the other 31 NFL teams is crazy to me. Of course some teams are run poorly and that reflects right on down to the field, but lots of 'em are run well. The Patriots are somewhere in that later group but they certainly make mistakes, like every other team.
