The reason this is bad isn't because the government shouldn't be spying on us. It's bad because the next government will spy more. And the one after that even more. And when the goon government shows up, which they absolutely will if we decide the government is allowed to routinely spy on people, we're going to be totally fucked. If you empower your government to be big bad daddy it absolutely will become big bad daddy at some point. If it's big bad daddy who thinks like you and likes you, well that's not great but you can live with it. If it's big bad daddy who has a raging hard-on for you and hates you, well that's where concentration camps came from.
But it's not Joe. The people have voted, they don't care. You and I have no recourse. Until you get another 50 million people to actually show up at the polls to change this, it's going to continue. It's not sheep's rhetoric to point out the facts. We have no recourse to stop this invasion of our privacy.
