It's hard not to have a lot of respect for Richardson. I'm glad we have him, and I hope we keep him around this season... at least in some capacity.
I never realized there was a chance we could loose T Rich this season, and I don't see that happening no matter what. I think we are going to keep 2 FBs this year. After T Rich retires with his ring, the Terminator will pick up where he left off.
I'm quite sure I read or heard Rex saying the team will carry two fullbacks this season. Great article!
That is a great article about a great player and person, but when you see stuff like this it reads like an obituary. Up until I watched Hard Knocks this morning I had been under the impression that the Jets would hold onto 2 fullbacks this season, but after the way Rex and Tanny were talking about him, it seems possible that TRich might not make it into the season as a Jet.
I'll read the story in the magazine at dinner tonight. Maybe the following was covered, but maybe not. For those that don't remember or maybe for our younger TGG members, I want to tell you that Richardson was really good the one year when he received a significant number of carries. In 2000, he had close to 150 carries and averaged 4.7 yards per carry. Richardson succeeded Kimble Anders as the Chiefs starting fullback in '99. Anders had been the starting FB from '93-'98 and was excellent. Then, in '99 they moved Anders to tailback and Richardson assumed the starting role at FB. Anders had an excellent start to the '99 season but was knocked out for the season in Week 2. I was so disappointed. Anders and Richardson are two of my very favorite backs of all time. Both were/are superb players.
Great article! Very nice job. Can we have 2 FB and 1 RB backfield? I'd love to see a gadget play with Greene or LT, Conner and TR in the I formation. I'd just love to see Conner and TR hit as lead blockers with LT or Greene running the ball. Or how about putting LT in a short shotgun formation with RT to his right and Conner on the left?
