Bottom line is we already have a LT, for better or for worse, so any tackle drafted in the first round by us would be playing RT, and you don't draft RT in the top 5. And you sure as hell don't draft guards that high either. So, where does using the #3 pick on the line rather than McFadden make more sense? The line needs to be addressed via FA or potential trades. Chris Long or Gholston would also make sense, but OL at #3 would be very dumb.
A tailback at #3 would be an insane move given our offensive line. That's not saying we should draft a lineman there but do we really want to mirror the Dolphins lousy moves? They took Ronnie Brown two years ago and have gone straight to the bottom since. Why? No QB, no offensive line, which are the pieces that really make an impact on offense.
If anyone here thinks that O-line and D-line are anything but the most important performers on each side of the ball, they need to give their heads a shake and learn the game.....we will do nothing until we start to give our QB time and RB holes, and get into the opponent's backfield.
Agreed, but I still don't see how OL in round one makes any sense. Gholston would be ideal, with Chris Long and McFadden following. I just don't see picking up another tackle in the first round as a smart move, as he'd likely be playing RT. With a top 5 pick? No thanks. The position needs to be addressed in free agency, or with a later pick.
