It was actually a fashion show almost by definition. They brought out clothing, put it on people in public with the hope/expectation that the audience would buy the clothing.
While I did like the Titans jerseys, they have outlasted their welcome. I wouldn't mind the 80's Jets uniforms for one game or so, BUT I'd rather them take our Namath era jerseys, brighten up the green, put the old JETS decal with the Jet plane on it, and slap on a grey facemask. See how vibrant that green is? That would be sweet looking throwback, even though it's essentially the same jersey we were now.
Uh...we used to wear kelly green, it's as vibrant as it gets. Plus it would look better than...well, I'll just let Neil model it...
Geezus, I want to jingle my keys in front of your face and see if I can distract you off this topic. Each post is a further decline of Western civilization. Here's another one you'll love.
That actually looks much better than the '95 jerseys which were much brighter. Our jerseys always look better the darker the green.
Couldnt agree more, but I hope we never change jerseys. We have 4 basic jerseys (Titans, Namath Jets, Green/White swoosh, New '98 Namath Style) We had variations of each. WE DONT NEED ANY MORE!! The best thing about the Yankees and Red sox, is there jerseys barely ever changed. Same basic uniform with a few slight variations. Thats why those Uniforms are so famous. NO MORE CHANGES!!!
image fail this thread is stuck in the 1900's all i want is for our look to advance into the 2000's It must be an age thing because most jets fans my age feel like I do
We aren't the Yankees or the Red Sox.... or the celtics or the lakers Hell we arent even the Packers or the steelers or the cowboys Outside of Nameth there is NOTHING iconic about our look It wouldn't be sacrilegious to change our look.... it wont make the news like it would if any of the teams i just mentioned changed their iconic looks
Team usually redesign uniforms because the team sucks. They want you to forget about their history, "The New Improved Houston Persons". I can't think of any team that did a re-branding of their uniforms while they were successful.
true.... not having to change it is a good thing i suppose I feel like we should have debuted in the new stadium last year with a new look missed opportunity
I disagree, Our logo is iconic. No where near Yankees or Red Sox obviously, but NO ONE who watches sports over the age of 45 will EVER forget the impact of Superbowl III, Neither will the NFL, and neither will Kevin Arnold, or Doug Heffernan. If we go back to the 80s swoosh, Im fine with that.
The Rams going gold after winning the SB is not really a redesign, but it was a significant change also.
The Rockets may have been the worst change in the history of sports, not just the timing after two titles but what they changed to. Clyde Frazier called it "pajamas". Denver actually went on to win two Super Bowls after changing, when the Jets played them in the 1998 AFC Championship both teams had just changed uniforms. A while back baseball went back to the traditional look, road teams went back to more grays, a trend that's now reversing again. In football you see teams like the Jets, Chargers now the Bills and 49ers all going back to older uniforms. In the 49ers case it's long overdue, considering they were a model franchise back in the day.
SB3 was as much a victory for the AFL as it was for the NYJ its not remembered because the Jets did it... its remembered because a AFL team beat an NFL team and that was what led to the leagues combining unlike the ICONIC Steelers Packers and Cowboys known for their multiple championships and dynasties
