Hey Thunder and JetCane....you seeing nay of Jason Pociask? Hearing alot about Sean Ryan but nothing about Pociask at all...
Ratliff was decent in college. Then again, so was Tui. I don't know what the cap hit is on Tui, but I'd probably rather keep Ratliff. As for the PS, one rules question I forget. If we put Ratliff on PS, and a team tries to snatch him up, do we have the right to put him on our own main roster first, or is he automatically gone?
No way. If Ratliff earns any kind of spot it will be on the practice squad. Tui hasn't lived up to his fairly high draft selection, but look at what team he was on. At least he has experience in the NFL...something that Ratliff doesn't have.
Here is my recolection on that rule... if someone knows for sure, please correct me.... a player on another team's taxi squad can be signed away at any time, with the caveat that he is given a regular roster spot... he can't be stolen from one team's TS to another team's TS. So, a TS player is basically an FA, but must be placed on the aquiring team's active roster. Bottom line, Ratliff is a better QB than Tui is. My opinion. I think Ratliff in the end will be the #3 emergency QB, and Tui will get cut. Takes the Coles comment with a grain of salt, I think it was tongue in cheek.... these refs are HS refs... not college refs. Don't know that for fact, but Coles said it in fun, a joking manner. These refs know they will never ref in an NFL game, bit Coles did make his point. He, and I thought it was PI. He's a competitor, and the D and O do care what happens on the practice filed. It was a play that would have been reviewed... I think,,, but I never know from one year to the next what plays are reviewable. It was as Jetcane said, a bang-bang play.
He hasnt been getting as many reps as Ryan, but he's been in there. He looks good on his blocking assignments, which is his strength. Clemens has found him open a few times, but Jason hasnt seen that many balls thrown his way, even with Kowaleski on the sideline. Yesterday they were working on the short yardage offense, and had two tight ends in with barnes and Leon in the backfield. Pociask was getting some reps in that formation. Yeah, especially since Coles wasnt even the WR involved in the play. (I think it was Stuckey). Yeah, I just checked his stats and they are impressive. 23 TDs and only 9 ints. A 133 QB rating abd 58% completion rate. I suspect that the CS is looking for some things that we dont necessarily see when it comes to choosing the scout team QB. The ability to quickly pick up new info and implement it in practice has to be important to them. I just dont see how they can get by without having one of these guys on the team to run the scout offense, and that will mean that one of the LBs or DEs on the bubble may have to go to make room for him.
nice reports guys. Jetcane Ive been reading your stuff at JN, appreciate the effort PS-I still think M.Irvin is an idiot
Wait. I'm getting mixed reviews on McCareins and his efforts. T-Bird has reservations while JetCane obviously praises him. Was it just a few plays he gave little effort or is he converting into a guy once again in doghouse mode?
As i mentioned, i didnt notice what T-Bird saw yesterday, but prior to that Mcc has had a good camp. On Tuesday he pwned Manny Collins in the 11s two minute drill for a 25 yard reception on first down. He's made several really nice receptions in tc, and they all seem to have come on the turf field in front of the bleachers. maybe he doesnt run as well on the grass field. If he did have an off practice yesterday, i think it's entirely possible that he hit the wall, which happens to almost everyone at some point in tc. I wouldnt call it a pattern unless it happens again next week.
That was the first time I saw McCariens give less than 100%, but I didn't like it. I mean, he knew he wasn't the primary reciever, and he stopped running even before the ball was thrown. Then, after the pass was completed to an underneath reciever, he just stood there, and let the DB go. Jetcane was talking to someone at the time... he who's name must not be said.... from JI, that's a hint.... up until then, he's looked good, so I won't get on him too much, but thought it was worth a mention. Thanks for the compliments, folks. No reports until Monday at the earliest from me.
Aaah thank you very much! I am lookin forward to Jmc. I hope to see that big p-lay potential he exhibited in TENN.
You guys keep up the excellent reviews. It kinda seems like fans are a bit more positive this year and seem to have an optimistic outlook torward this season.
If everyone stays healthy, this team is going to be one hell of a tough out for anyone. They're gonna be a lotta fun to watch. The schedule may be tougher, especially the first half, but the jets are going to be better too, in the second year in the system.
Thanks for the info guy's, it is very educational for me at least all the way Down Under. Do they ever try anything different with Ben Graham?
