I totally agree... I just dunno when he'll come to that realization. If there IS a team out there that will give him that money, I hope hes ready to never win anything ever. No team that pays him like that can have any expectation of actually winning.
They're not watching the games. BTW: I remember one play he made this season that I couldn't believe. He had one guy wide open on a 7-8 yard drag route (I think it was crabtree) for a first down. Instead of throwing it to him, he fit the ball into a very small window between a CB and Safety about 20 yards deep in the end zone to another WR for a TD. He is the real deal as a passer, anyone who doesn't think so isn't paying attention.
I think that's the very point I've been trying to make. They'll investigate for sure but if anyone thinks they are getting picks #31 and #34, they are sadly mistaken. For the Jets to be able to trade him they are going to have to realize they aren't getting alot in return in regards to picks. No team wants to give up the picks for a 1 year rental or pay HUGE picks and then have to pay him 16 mil per.
Ok... think about this from San Fran's point of view. Of course you're going to spread the word that you're not interested. If everyone and their mother (including the Jets) know you want Revis, have a lot of picks to spend, and desperately need to upgrade your secondary, the first thing the Jets are going to do is raise their asking price. You need to make people think you're not hot on his trail. If I were San Fran, I'd wait a few months, not talk to the Jets at all (and if there are talks, you tell them you dont want a 1 year rental coming off knee surgery) and let the Jets come to you around draft time. Your only shot at not getting raped by the Jets is to act like you're not really that interested. If the Jets want to move Revis, the niners are one of the only teams that are (a) in contention for a super bowl and looking for that one piece; (b) where that one piece and need of your team is at cornerback; (c) you are a team in the nfc and (d) have the necessary abundance of picks to make the deal happen. If the Jets want to trade Revis, they'll come to you.
Kaepernick is the real deal. He's extremely smart and extremely athletic. He's quick, he has a strong arm, and he has some of the best vision I've ever seen in a QB. He's able to look downfield for open receivers and if he notices an open gap in between the defense's rushers, he doesn't even hesitate to run straight through it for a 10-15 yard gain.
Really now? To be honest I don't see the reason for THE JETS to have to contact anyone he is still under conract and will be until after this year so everything you have stated is just lob sided opinionated crap don't you qoute fans I have been a fan my whole life it's "fans" like YOU Who always got something to say about an opinion but hen you post something god help us all you rain he'll upon us.
Just a side note.... Saw this on a Niner page talking about his salary this year. 2013: $3 million (+ $1 million workout bonus + $1 million roster bonus due 3/16 + $1 million reporting bonus) If I'm reading that correctly then I would think that if the Jets are going to trade him they will be looking to do so before March 16th.
Exactly. The last thing the Jets are going to do is let a Revis trade get held up by a failed physical. That's also the absolute last thing Revis wants. The injury question has to be taken off the table before anything gets done. The performance question is something that is going to factor into any trade, given the uncertainties there, but the injury question cannot and will not be part of the process.
Reports like this make me wonder if this whole trade thing could be nothing more than Idzik gathering ammo for a Revis negotiation. You want $16 million/year? "Here's a list of teams who are a CB away from a championship who told us they were unwilling to pay $16 million a year for a CB." Or something to that effect.
they'll trade him in June for a 2014 conditional. At worst a 3rd (if he makes no conditions), at best a 1st (if he makes a pro bowl/signs a new contract/wins the SB)... Probably end up with a 2014 2nd rounder. Same Old Jets!
Possible. Could also be like the 49ers saying "We will not release Alex Smith" in order to retain his trade value.
Everything I post is crap? Heh. If you don't know that the Jets are sending signals around the league, even partly by not denying they are shopping Revis, then it's no wonder your posts make no sense. The best player on the team has reason to believe his team is shopping him. They do not contact him more recently than a month ago. They know there are stories out there that they shunned is agents. Seems to me unless they are having private conversations that, frankly, in today's world we would have heard about, that all tells us something. So then when Revis is asked a direct question about the Niners, he says something nice about him, and fans like you are ready to call him a traitor. I can see crap, and smell it, too, and that would be you, bub.
Could be. Thanks for talking me off the ledge. But of course if that is NOT what is going on... Well, thanks anyway.
I see this differently. I bet the Jets and Revis start the season togther. Revis proves he is healthy and the JEts deal him beofre the trade dead-line in an MLB/NBA/NHL kind of block buster. Jets get 2014 Draft comp and Revis gets his new deal. This should be the Jets play; the only way they will get real value for him
Given the $3MIL cap hit if they trade him before June 1, I don't see the sense of any scenario before then. But after that, it's certainly possible, if they are running SOJ still.
I just can't see that working. That would require a team carry a good amount of cap room going into the season in a year where the cap remains relatively static. Moreover, if its 6 weeks into the season the only team willing to go after him like that would be a title contender. All other teams could just wait till he's a FA (particularly if you are saying an extension comes as part of the deal). Title contenders aren't going to be flush with cap space. NFL mega deals really don't happen very often to begin with...much less DURING the season. Moreover, the Jets won't bet that they can get more during the season and risk getting nothing. What if he DOESN'T prove that he's the same guy post injury in just 6 weeks (before trade deadline)? If the Jets start the season with him, he's a Jet all year. Just my opinion.
I agree with your comments. What worries me though is that reality might not sink in for Revis camp until AFTER he hits free agency & sees nobody else thinks CB should be the highest paid defender in the NFL. Unfortunately, this will be the stage where Revis also enters unrestricted free agency. Hate to be cynical, but I just don't see Revis turning around and making a decision influenced on loyalty when this reality hits. Highest bidder gets the best CB in NFL.
