Personally, I think Revis should just go. It's obvious he doesn't really want to retire a Jet. Yet, some SOJF will try and blame the team... I'd be surprised if he stays...
hes gone. we will try and negotiate, but his agents are gonna use the whole "my client was hurt by the trade rumors" angle and try and hold us over the coals for a monster contract. idzik wont bite and we will trade him away and he will sign for less, bc god hates the jets.
why does he have to say how great he is every time some one sticks a mic in his face. most great players let other people talk about their greatness.
I find it funny how he says the goal of all players is to wint the VLB trophy, yet he is more focused on $ and interviews. There are only two options now 1) Revis plays this year with the Jets at 6M and proves he is still healthy (he will start slow and have some hamstring issues) but start to regain his form in week 6. Hits the FA market in 2014 and signs a deal for less than he desires 2) Jets trade him and recieve far less than what Revis is actually worth (1 and a 3). Market Value for a malcontent, $ focused CB, comming of a knee injury is a 2 or a 3
I hate the idea of trading Revis, but we cant resign him. If we want to be a Rex team of all defense, and no offense then keep him and make him the highest paid player in the NFL. Then he can hold out in 2 years when he is not. The constant threat to hold out has made him expendable. We don't need the best and highest paid CB in football to compete, just a sufficent one...
He has expressed he likes the 49ers so let him go I'm tired of getting held hostage as a team by a selfish player no matter how good he is trade him get draft picks have a good draft and move on.. we will resign cro next year
this is getting ridiculous. It was THE JETS who have been floating for several weeks now, without ANY contact back to him and his agents that they are interested in fielding trade offers for Revis. But now that he says something nice about the Niners, homers such as yourself put it all on him. Just ridiculous how "fans" here always hate the player and take the side of the FO. Idzik was someone I never even heard of before a few weeks ago, but now I am supposed to root against Revis and for him??? WHat an upside down world.
What do you guys expect Revis to say? The Jets FO has ignored him, and told him nothing as far as his place on this team. If I sat back and watched this pathetic team from the sidelines in 2012, I would love to play for the niners too.
If the source is Manish Mehta (which I believe most of the rumors have come from him) then I do not blame Jets fans for being skeptical. Also, I think it is in the teams best interest to trade Revis and get a package that can help build the team. Draft foundation players this draft, still have a terrible season with mediocre QBs and then have a solid team in 2014 with draft picks from the past 2 seasons, cash to spend and hopefully a top 10 pick at QB next season (Bridgewater, Manziel, Fales, Boyd) or Clowney the stud for the defense to go along with Wilkerson and Coples to have the sack exchange part deux. Call me crazy but trading Revis (in the right package) seems to be a smart decision. Get foundational pieces. With two drafts (including one with a franchise QB) the team can be set up for the future. Hopefully they can scout well enough to make this happen.
Revis to the 49ers for a 1,2(KC),4,6 I love Revis, my favorite player, my favorite Jet but Idzik and Woody not coming to bat for him and only Rex doing such shows me this team is going in a different direction. If we can keep Revis fine, if not hey I'll get over it.
This is all funny. "trade is finalized because Revis was asked about the 49ers and he responded accordingly". Good one. In other comments, he also said he would love to stay in NY and be the main defensive player. Oh, but lets over look that.
I have no problem with Revis trying to maximize how much money he makes. Ideally he wouldn't talk about being on another team while still under contract, but I do agree some fans are overreacting given the situation.
The Revis comments were very important. He just gave the Jets the green-light to trade him without drama. That was a key step and it gives the Jets some room to work out a deal now once Revis is fit enough to pass a physical.
Delanie Walker is the #2 TE and is currently a FA. Niners offense heavily reliant on TEs. Vernons not going anywhere.
