The Jets do not want to give up any additional picks. They see a 3rd as a very valuable commodity. They believe in the draft.

The difference is that we were trading for the #4 overall. Denver is trading for the #15. Obviously they're not giving up 2 first rounders here.

Good point. I think the main reason is we only gained out of this trade pick-wise. We didn't lose any. I really think we really are going to be hardnosed about parting of picks this year because of all our needs. Obviously, we did lose a player, too, but we would have lost him anyway at this point so, all in all, pretty good deal. Plus, we freed a bunch of cash off the books, too.

I really think all the teams made out pretty good in the deal. By pulling a third player in the deal all three teams were able to satisfy specific needs to problems they currently had. This deal actually taught me a little something about contract negotiation and closing deals. Very good if you can adapt this strategy at the opportune time in personal life.

I'd love to get the #15 and #22 for the #4.

    The Jets like #29

A lot of people have asked why the Jets didn't throw in their 3rd/4th to get the Falcons #15 pick instead of the Broncos. To be honest, the Jets are probably very happy at #29.

I mean, think about who they're targeting - Mangold or some other OL. It's silly to draft Mangold at 15. He won't be there at #36, and he'll probably be there at #29. So if Mangold is the guy you want, do you really give up a 3 and a 4 to move up to 15, when he'll probably still be there at 29?

Broncos already had 2 1sts. They moved from 29 to 15 by using 2 other picks.

Well maybe, but I think our FO pulled the trigger at the right time. Now they can move on to other things. Draft strategy plotting (not that they haven't done this to some extent) using the remaining month of time. They also have to conduct prospect interviews, etc.

We can all rest assured knowing that our crew will go into the draft fully prepared.

With the draft as strong on talent as this one is, the Jets absolutely made the correct move. Of course, you more or less said this.

They didn't have to be involved. The Jets could have traded picks back to Atlanta along with Abe. Maybe they weren't willing to..

It's not that crazy. Atlanta traded down and then sent us a pick for Abe. This kind of stuff happens all the time.
