We should’ve had an Oregon vs USC PAC-10 championship last night so we got another exciting game to evaluate their QBs. But they had to go and be so stupid about it
I don't have a favorite this year to be honest. Sellers is raw talent. Can Jets develop him? Sure but I fear he might have a Trey Lance type of career. Moore seems OK too but didn't fall in love with him here. If say Jets pick 6th and either of Mendoza and Moore are there I am OK picking them. Say Sellers is available with Indiana's pick, I am OK to pick him there. What I am not OK is for Jets to trade up for any of this year's QB's.
Funny too. Lincoln Riley specifically complained after the Illinois game about the early start and traveling east and all that shit. USC was the biggest ring leader in breaking up the PAC-12. You’re right too. In the era of NIL the conference would be awesome right now. They probably would’ve added BYU by now too.
He seems like a good guy. I watched a highlight video of this game and he had some nice plays. He also had one bad play in the highlights on an intercepted screen. How did he play overall?
I watched the games, and also at this point I caught up in quite a few during the season where I think this is a 2 QB draft: Mendoza and Moore. They will go #1 and #2 overall. For me Moore is clear #1 and Mendoza #2, but teams can flip the order. Of course this is pending rest of the games and other process that remains, but for now I do think both will come out and be gone by #2 pick. Mendoza was not perfect on Saturday, but he played against a team that has a lot of future NFL defenders. He has good enough arm, and he makes very good decisions. Even the pick he had I don't think was his fault. He processes reasonable well too. He also will pick up yards on the ground. I would be very happy if we end up with him om the draft night. Moore to me has a higher ceiling. He processes very quickly and has a better arm than Mendoza. He doesn't run much, but he will do it when he needs to. He is also 20 years old and demonstrated significant growth throughout the season. I can visually see his releases are getting faster from earlier in the year. I would have no hesitation spending #1 overall on him or trading up for him. Simpson I still think is a 1st round pick. He does have a good arm and can process as well. On Saturday he was under siege. It was hard to judge him. The pick he threw was not good though and I saw similar pick a game or two ago, which means same mistakes are repeating. He also missed a couple of easy screen passes. But he had some incredible plays as well. That scramble where he ran towards the sideline to his right and then launched a rocket to hit his guy in the chest in the endzone was pretty amazing. The guy dropped it, but from the QB perspective this was great to see. I am also concerned about his height. A few balls were batted down. Yes, some of it had to do with pressure, but had he been even an inch taller I think it could have helped. He is listed 6-2, but probably is between 6-0.5 and 6-1.5. Very few QBs at this height have gone on to succeed. Overall, I am getting concerned. There is a pretty high probability that the Browns and the Raiders, who are tanking very hard, will end up with top 2 picks. Then there is 0 chance we are getting Moore or Mendoza in that scenario. I hope there will be the Titans or even the Giants who will have one of these picks.
Can't help but feel like a proverbial train would hit Mendoza if he came to New York with the Jets. Reality would hit him hard Put me on the Dante Moore bandwagon I guess
