I don't understand why Simpson is still listed as a favorite for #1 overall:

Watched two games now, and I am just not seeing it. Given he is less than ideal height, older than ideal age, fewer than ideal starts, I would expect him to perform a lot better to warrant #1 slot. That one INT he threw yesterday, seemed like a fairly routine throw over a LB, he kept it too low, even though the commentators said the guy jumped so high, he really didn't. Anyone would have easily gotten his hands on it. Second one is a hail Mary, so I don't care about that one, but still, it looked like they played a complete shit opponent and he looked just OK.

Not saying the guy is not a 1st round pick, but Moore and Mendoza look better to me right now.

He’s only 22 and age doesn’t really matter for QB shelf life IMO. They play until they’re 40.

But I agree. Simpson sucks. He’s frail looking, looks like he aims the ball and has no zip outside the numbers. He’s like a worse, less experienced version of Bryce Young without the intangibles.

It’s way too early to tell if you’d need the number 1 pick or not for Arch Manning. Sometimes he does look the part though

Sellers was playing a FCS team I don’t take much stock other than to see the talent is there

He’s the only QB I’d use a top 5 pick on. Hope he declares. If not Moore - I’d draft a 3rd round qb (the LSU kid or someone like that) and if that doesn’t pan out (unlikely) - we draft a qb in 27

Yes, I was quite pleasantly surprised with Maiava, and felt bad I have not followed USC closer, as my daughter went there, she was on the band, and I watched USC for years. I also BTW in yesterday game fell in love with the WR, his name escapes me right now, he might be there with our second first rounder.
Love everything I have read and seen on Bain. No hard pass at all from me. Do you see a scenario where we can rearrange the D and move McDonald to LB and move Bain at Edge and have all three with JJ on the field. Then we bring back JFM and problem solved. D will be set with an added CB and QB.

    When it comes to Manning...

Can anyone remember if both Peyton and Eli were considered NFL ready while they were still in school? I know Peyton was. He was considered the best QB in the draft when he went back for that last year (screwing the Jets) and he was considered a generational QB by the time he actually did hit the draft. I know Eli was highly considered, as well, most of the way through college. In fact, quite a few talking heads were on record as Eli being a better prospect than Peyton because he was the better athlete. To be honest, had Peyton not squeezed out that 2nd SB with Denver, Eli would have had the edge on championships.

Having said all that, Arch, on the other hand, is not. Almost all his supporters are there on name only. From what little I've seen and heard, he's not even considered the best prospect in college at the moment. If I'm the Jets, Manning would need a big time season next year to be considered, if they haven't drafted a QB in 2026, of course.

A final point, as I just finished reading an article on Sanders getting his first start for Cleveland, all of you thinking they're going to take a QB in the 1st round this year and, if he doesn't "blow everyone away" in 2026, take another 1st round QB in 2027 are smoking a joint the size of a Havana cigar. You want to make sure both fail, draft 2 qb's in back to back years in the 1st round. Now THAT would be "same ole' Cleveland" let alone same ole' Jets. If they do that, they would, literally in 1 year, decide that the 2026 pick and all the resources (maybe) that it took to get him are forfeit.

Both USC receivers are studs. Makai Lemon is small and shifty, Jakobi Lane is the big prototypical X receiver. Would welcome either here.

I like Bain a lot but I have a couple knowledgeable friends that are down on him because of how he might measure height, weight, arm length, etc. I see Terrell Suggs when he plays.

    Thanks JV.
    From everything I read.
He leaned a little this year at 275, but apparently runs like he is 225.He can move up and down the defensive line which is a big plus. Experts say he has very heavy hands and is violent. He has drawn double coverage on every single play opening up lanes for his teammates. I don't know about arm length but football instincts are off the charts. Most project him 1-5 at worst.
I know he missed four games last year on a calf injury, but I don’t know if that is an issue moving forward. From my uneducated stand point he is amazing at tackles for a loss and chasing down running QBs. Two huge pluses.
