But hiring Gase was not in any way "trying the same shit." Gase was from the offense. Gase was an experienced head coach. That's what many people say we must have. If the shoe fits... wear it! Gase was his own brand of shit. Miami didn't want him; the Jets should not have either. Each time the Jets hire a coach I would hope they consider every viable candidate from the NCAA or the NFL; from the offensive, defensive or even special teams sectors and regardless of whether or not they have been a head coach in the past. It's a tough enough task to hire the right guy without all the clamoring for eliminating almost every candidate based on such bias. The Jets are not 0 - 4 because Glenn has never before been a head coach nor because he was a defensive player and coach. Sure, it would have been great but anyone who expected a playoff appearance this season was not dealing with reality. Anyone calling for his ouster today isn't either.
