Whatever it may be, there should be some rule where you must reach a certain point on the field before being allowed to even attempt a kick. The main idea of the game the way it was originally intended and is how to move the ball, the offensive schemes, the coverage. Kicking has its place, but it should not be that you got 15 yards and you are now in midfield and in the field goal range.
Shooting is the main point of basketball. A defender will come closer to him to guard him farther out, that won't change the essence of the game. Kicking from midfield where you only need 15-20 yard to get to a score changes the point of the game completely. It's not like the kick itself can be defended.
given the changes the NFL made to make it more QB centric to get higher scores and create more highlight reels then I can see them making changes to the kicking game so that it doesn't detract from "more TDs111!!!"
I've never understood the gameplan behind not watching the games but then coming to post on a website about the team you don't watch.
what are you talking about? There is a defense there trying to block every kick. Of course it’s defended
They don’t need to change the field goal kicking rules. But they need to adjust the kickoff rules so teams are getting the ball at the 20 and not the 30-35. Kickers are too good and it’s too easy to get into FG range.
Come on now, only 1% is defended. FG is 99% about the kickers. But football is not soccer. It should be fundamentally about passing, rushing, defending, coverage. Not about getting 20 yards and generating scoring without actually using fundamentals of the game.
It clearly is. When you attempt to understand the point, you will. The kickers are too good now, and it takes away from the fundamental aspects of the game.
That helps, but still, originally 3 points were designed to be basically a smaller consolation prize when you get close but can't quite score a TD. Now with these kickers there is almost 50 yards difference between the consolation prize of 3 and the full TD of 7. That's way too much. Used to be 30-35 max. 40+ was like Hail Mary. Something needs to be done to make the FG worth what it used to be in relation to the TD. This is why I am thinking best would be to move posts 10-15 yards back from the end zone.
It's so bad right now. I wonder if many season ticket holders didn't renew gave up their season tickets it's the team selling them getting whatever they can? I hear ads on the radio the team trying to sell tickets to these games. In the stadium on the big screens they're offering minipackages. It is a bad look for the fan base it looks as if many have given up on the team from the start. We don't have a home field advantage. Yes it is a very bad look for the franchise as well and yes the Jets do tend to play a tough to watch brand of football.
I may be in the minority here. I much prefer to watch the game from the 300s. I've watched games from the 100s at Metlife fore some reason it seems the majority of fans down there stand to watch the game. So I have to stand to watch the game. It sucks. It was the same when I watched the Club World Cup semifinal at Metlife back in July I paid for a seat in the 100s I had to stand to watch the game practically the entire game. I regretted not buying a much cheaper seat up top. Up top the majority of fans sit to watch the game, I can see the entire field better, I get a better view of plays as they develop. At Metlife. When I get a seat in the 100s at Citifield the fans sit it's enjoyable to watch a game there I get what I pay for.
