I don’t understand how people could watch Sanders slip to the second round, getting passed up by QB needy teams and teams that traded back into the first round specifically for a quarterback. I don’t even think I would consider it at 42 considering what’s available and what we need.

Tre Harris or Mason Taylor in the second would be a home run, and if you go Taylor in the second you can go Harris in the third. That’s a whole lot of body added at pass catching positions and it’s probably our glaring weakness right now.

Well because they clearly have different opinions on the player than you do. Every player that’s fallen means that they suck and all the teams that passed on them were right?

It’s dumb to think that because he’s fallen, all the teams analysis was correct. Teams make massive mistakes in the draft all the time. I get it if you think he’s going to suck, but this logic is flawed.

Yes very well aware that different opinions exist, I’m asking how you can still think we need to trade up to get someone that a franchise like the Steelers decided wasn’t worth the 21st overall pick even though he plays a position they need. Or at the very least how you can hold onto this opinion that we should have taken him seventh overall when he Might go 37th overall.

Steelers have nothing to do with it. You evaluate the player, not whether other teams take him or not. Sanders is dropping because his arm his avg, his size is avg, his speed is avg, and he bails on the designed play early. The fact that he’s Deion’s son has given him far more attention (good and bad) than he’d otherwise have if he was Joe Shmo. If he was Joe Shmo he’d be a mid round QB with potential. But being Shadeur SANDERS he got alot of hype to be drafted early because the media wants storylines.

I feel ok agreeing with the Steelers as much as I wish they would fail and fold and cease to exist.

I don't. They are still holding their dicks for the QB the incompetent Jets released

I see what you’re saying …. I hate the Steelers too but as for the franchise they have always for the most part drafted well and they don’t put up with a lot of nonsense and background noise. I think as far as Sanders goes it’s the personality and persona. I don’t think Tomlin wants the drama….it could turn out to be a mistake though who knows.

Now as far as the Jets at #42 goes I do not see them taking Sanders. DM/AG appear to want to build the trenches and fill out the rest of the team. They signed Fields for 2025 (like him or not) and with the OL now complete they will look for playmakers. I’m seeing WR/TE tonight with an eye on DT if the right one is there - perhaps at 73. Bringing in Sanders as the team is currently constructed would be ridiculous.

Nick Emmanwori if he's there at 42 will be hard to pass up

covers like a CB, hits like a LB

The Steelers have taken one good QB in the last 40 years and it was in probably the best QB draft ever. It’s not like the Packers have the Steelers QB room and they passed on two potential QB’s for a defensive tackle.

That's taking a big gamble in the third round. We'd essentially need 40 picks to go by without 5-6 solid pass-catching options being taken. I don't like the odds. That being said Emmanwori is a guy I'd take the chance for.

What pick I would love to see, in this order.

Milroe - Ultimate lottery ticket, similar skill set to Fields with a higher ceiling.

Will Johnson - Was considered one of the best corners if not the best in the draft, injury concerns but worth the risk imo.

Nick Emmanwori - Fills a huge need with arguably the best safety in the draft.

Hayden Higgins - Big bodied smooth receiver, perfect compliment to Wilson.

Mike Green - One of the BPA, hard not to capitalize on the slide.

Mason Taylor - Fills a need, great pedigree.

One thing is for sure, Time to change channels tonight. I got sick of watching the first round with ESPN and listen to both Riddick and Kiper spend most all night talking about Sanders and how misunderstood he was by the GMs, shocking he was passed up, blah blah blah excuses since they both rated him as the number one 1 QB. They show more highlights of him than of the actual draftees. Contrary to public outcry, even though they miss on QBs often, they also did plenty of work on him and probably determined he was absolutely not worth a first round pick.

I've been watching the draft on NFL Network for years now. Eisen and crew are significantly more enjoyable than anything on ESPN.

If we go through the next two rounds without a playmaker, I’m done. I don’t care who it is, take your shot with whoever you like.

It’d make sense to draft Sanders with our 2nd round pick, only because his best comp is Geno Smith (although Geno has a much better arm) and we love deja vu. The reason Sanders hasn’t been drafted is two-fold; he’s pedestrian in every physical category, and he comes with a circus. Look at the media right now, it’s all they want to talk about. Cam Ward and Jaxson Dart were actually drafted in the first round and I’ve heard next to nothing about them, it’s all Sanders. That’s the kind of circus you endure for an A+ prospect that checks all the boxes, not a guy who throws wobblers before tapping the ball on every throw. Sanders in the Meadowlands will be an absolute disaster.

Like others, I'm hoping for a pass catcher too. I'd be happy with Mason Taylor and prefer a TE over WR there generally speaking though would be excited with Jayden Higgins too.

Glenn and Mougey do a great job of running a tight ship without leaks or creating media shows so I don't put stock into anything they say though Glenn did stress the importance of building the team from the inside out in the trenches. So I wouldn't be surprised if they end up with an edge or DT in the 2nd and maybe each of those positions within the next few picks. Ezeiruaku (who I saw a lot of in college and always stood out) and Mike Green are two 1st round edges still around. If one is there, I wouldn't be surprised if they took one.

There was quite a run on DTs and even a more one-dimensional run stopper in Tyliek Williams ended up as a surprise 1st round pick. Shows how the league is skewing to stopping the run and prioritizing guys with that skill set. Fortunately it's a deep draft for IDL.

I don't think it'll happen on Day 2, but another underrated position I'm watching is OG. Simpson and AVT is a fantastic duo, but both are free agents next year and I don't think they'll be able to resign both, especially with all the other high picks on the OL. I expect an IOL for depth and development to potentially replace Simpson or AVT in 2026.

Also, IMO no chance they take Sheddeur Sanders. He seems like too much hype and noise around him for what Aaron Glenn wants to do

I'd like Higgins as my guy too, but I'm doubting he makes it past a few of those teams ahead of us. Most notably a seriously WR starved NE that was just forced into overpaying for Diggs' fall off years when nobody else would take their money.

It's just such a good example of how poor the NFL has become that a QB with no anticipation and poor footwork, from a primarily college style offense, gets traded up for but the NFL-groomed pocket passer falls.
