Fields moves the ball. He takes bad sacks and fumbles, but he can move the chains on offense. The bad sacks and fumbles are also a bit more coachable IMO than bad interceptions.

There isn’t anyone the Jets are drafting at 7 (or really in the entire draft IMO) that should be a day one starter. So why not try to find our Geno, Darnold, Baker, etc. redemption story?

Math is hard but Fields is 40 mill over 2 seasons. Keeping Rodgers would've been 40 mill in 2025, 1 season.

For the math challenged folks, Fields cost half the price of keeping Rodgers

Yeah thats what they said with Mahomes and Josh Allen to, Qbs are a crapshoot for all we know someone drafted in the 1st round will be the next Joe Montana. Better to try than to pay a career bum 40 mil meaning that this year the Jets wont be drafting a qb in the 1st 2 rounds.

And 30 mil is actually guaranteed, not 40. This is a really good move.

I believe we can still do it, if there is a sleeper later in the draft.

LOVE the fields signing. Was very worried we were going into the season with Tyrod as our #1. This gives us something to be excited about. Fields had the Steelers at 4-2 and I was surprised they went back to Wilson.

I am fucking stoked.. I think he has so much potential and I still love the kid. I would be thrilled if he really turned it on as a NYJ. Praying this is it. Finally, a winning team is ahead!?!?

I’m stoked because this means our FO recognizes that Sanders and Dart are trash.

    I like this signing.

    He is 26 years old.

He played really well last year to start the season.

    He is mobile.

He is reuniting with G. Wilson.

    Lots of positives.

In his last 19 starts (2 years) he has a 62% Completion rate, 3700 yards and 21/10 TD INTs. 950 yards rushing with 9 TDs.

The biggest problem is the negative plays (sacks, fumbles, INTs)

Step one. We are going to have a no shit running game this year. Not the mess we fielded last year, throwing the ball on second or third and inches. We need to start by moving the chains and then simplify the passing game and work on Fields to not take sacks by throwing the ball away. Also bombs away to Wilson when expecting the run. It will be a fun year.

Took the long way to get to where we should have been to begin with. But I like it, welcome fields!

I think the best part about this is that it appears the current regime believes in him, at least for the short term, which can go a long way for a still relatively young player.

Fields might get outplayed in camp by Tyrod, but there’s no chance Fields isn’t starting. I’d have rather let Tyrod start for a year and sign a backup if we’re going to be stashing a rookie anyway.
