Brissett to NE is super interesting as it keeps the potential trade out possibility alive. Which probably would impact the available tackles at 10.
I agree that we don’t have a ton of options on a limited budget and all but he looked especially washed last year. Zero zip and dogshit accuracy. I think I’d rather take a flyer on like a Tyler Huntley than Tannehill.
Best back-up? Maybe before but not now. The guy dropped off the cliff in 2023 and he will be 36. Rating similar to Zach in a better situation. He is downgrade at this point of his career.
Besides cutting Uzomah & Tomlinson, did we restructure any other contracts that I missed? Mosley, JFM, Quinnen? Curious if Woody does not want to jeopardize the future and is preventing JD from roster management. And or, the restructures will start to come when we eventually make a splash in Free agency. That is if JD wakes up
I thought the same thing, Dan. Woody is probably tired of Douglas forking out tens of millions for retreads like Uzomah, Tomllinson, Brown, etc.
Reports out of 1 Jet Drive were that Woody is willing to spend but Joe Douglas wants to "hold the line" and stick to his plan of finding second tier "diamonds". How's that worked out so far? Joe Douglas is working himself right out of New York.
Anyone else have a feeling we’ll sign bahktiari, maybe some other swing tackle, McGovern and that’ll be it for o-line?
Too many bad team fanbases come this time of the year seem to forget that today we are basically the fat loser kid, top 5 hottest girls in the school fantasy list in hand, hoping to score that dream date to the prom. With almost zero outside consideration ever given to the fact Johnny QB and all his popular kid friends are out there looking to score dates with the same girls. I been sitting in a discord voice chat with rabid Chiefs and Bengals fans who been waiting all day for that Tyron Smith tier OT signing. But yeah, when it doesn't happen for us it's surely gonna be because our GM must have been sleeping, and certainly not due in any part for the most obvious reason on the table
Now that I think aboht it-that will be it T-Bahktiari G-Simpson C-tipman G-AVT T-#10 bench G/C-mcgovern T1-Warren t2- Mitchell now I know we don’t love it, but almost all those guys are here now, have gtd$, many have familiarity with CS, several fit the “young developing guys “ mantra, at least 2 offer multi-position flexibility (McGovern, Mitchell and tipman) and theoretically “save” a roster spot or 2. Also, that’s 8 guys..How many players r we actually gonna carry at this position and we’re at almost 20% of the roster being o-line if we get all the guys I mentioned. Only 53 come RS
I think injuries played a role as well as the overall state of that team. I get he obviously has some warts, especially at this age, but he’s a veteran qb that you could feel confident in to give you a chance in a game or 2 if needed. We arent a super bowl contender with ANY of the backups out there if needed for a full season (sone might say we arent even with Rodgers, but thats a different story altogether). If RT was on our roster last year, its very possible we would have played at least meaningful games in Dec.
