I'm not saying whether we should or shouldn't trade Torres, but there aren't many Yankees more valuable than him. Judge and Cole for sure but they would have to waive their no-trade clauses, and trading them would be insane. Then there's Holmes/King if a team is desperate for a closer, and Rizzo if you value team control over youth. That's about it. (I guess you could make a case for Rodon, but he hasn't pitched a game yet for the Yankees, and he also has a no-trade clause.)
Remember, it’s not a failure of a season if the Yankees don’t make the World Series- George Steinbrenners daughter
Susan with another gem to prove near total purge is needed. "I thought this was a bad Red Sox team." They are. Gee, wonder what that makes the Yankees. I think a good debate would be if Stanton is the worst player to ever sign a contract of ten plus years. I think he is. He can't play the outfield or even run hard without high probability of injury.... And outside of one month a year where he hits .380 and hits almost 20 home runs he's one of the worst hitter I've ever watched consistently. I don't care he hits them a country mile, the guy is strong yay.
Good for German. He's been through a lot, some on his own doing. When he has a good day he usually The past few years it was basically Montgomery and German fighting for the 5th spot. I was in total agreement dealing Monty,I just never bought into his stuff. Most of Monty's starts were just average when he was at his best. German is a type of pitcher that will either pitch great or terrible. Honestly I'd rather have that as my fifth starter
I guess if you were alive during the dead ball era you may be in the minority.... But this is trending to be the worst offensive Yankee baseball team any of us have ever watched. Well, it's already happened actually. They need to explode the rest of the season to not be that. The Yankees somehow lost the Gary Sanchez trade. How fucking crazy is that.
I'm back on the trade Torres wagon. Beginning of the year I thought they missed the opportunity for several years, but now it's obvious this team is total seller (or should be). He's not coming back. Even if they get a bag of balls they can move on and start either DJ or Peraza at second. Maybe there's a few relievers that you don't want going forward, but I can't think of a single other player that would make sense trading that's value is above 0.
These players are a product of an organization that has zero accountability for failure. https://nypost.com/2023/07/20/carlos-rodon-yankees-dont-have-to-be-defined-but-ugly-moment /
I think if the Yankees get swept by the royals this weekend, they will accept fate and be sellers. Sad to say, but go Royals. Welp....
We'll trade for Bellinger and a mid-tier catcher, squeak our way into the playoffs, lose in the Wild Card round, have a "productive conversation" with Ohtani this offseason, sign Matt Chapman instead, and run it back again with Cashman and Boone in 2024. It's the Yankees Way™.
I understand that Casey Stengel himself could not manage this team into winners, but Boone needs to go. This statement is either highly insulting to the organization, or downright clueless which shows he does not have the mental capacity to manage a MLB team.
