Fair and I’m not advocating to keep Grisham. But who do you try to replace him and that production with? You’re looking like at like Cedric Mullins, Harrison Bader (again?), Lane Thomas, Randal Grichuk, etc. types other wise. Have to assume you’re not getting Kyle Tucker and Schwarber doesn’t play the field anymore. There’s not a lot of options unless you’re going to really give Dominguez a chance all year to play center (scary defensively) and try to find a corner outfielder.
Replace his production? I want to Thanos snap his production off the Yankees. He had a career year, but he's also a player that fits the mold of 5 other Yankees. Awful BA, strikes out a ton, no contact, hits homers. I don't think he matches his positive metrics from this year ever again. I think Cody is back on the Yankees and he's a great CF. If he leaves yeah it's better Grisham is here, but I'd buckle up for a crap year. Get a player that is the opposite of the whole lineup. Contact, batting average, runs the bases and doesn't strike out 175 times.
True and good points. I just am saying with who? https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/free-agents/_/year/2026/position/of/level/mlb If you bring Bellinger back then I have my answer and I agree. Easier to find a corner outfielder than CF.
FA market is awful this year you're right. Honestly I wouldn't mind Bader at all, Mullins is better than he was last year and he'll be cheap. I just can't imagine Grisham not taking the offer, and the yanks have now pigeon holed themselves into a lineup that looks very similar to this year.
Sigh. Grisham back to the Yankees. https://x.com/Ken_Rosenthal/status/1990887494041125296?s=20 .210 with 16 homers/50 RBI’s and no arm in centerfield incoming.
Williams to the Mets. Not ideal but not the end of the world. I'm not the biggest fan of pitchers who best pitch is a change up. But I'm not sure I trust the FO to fill the gap.
Hal crying poor and allegedly the Yankees aren’t seeking any more hitters, just another pitcher? I can’t verify this but on WFAN they alluded to Grisham’s contract being what’s stopping them from re-signing Bellinger.
Bichette incoming? Would like to re sign bellinger and get the imai too. Will also need to do something about the bullpen now
Tucker to the Dodgers. It's really sad how broken the mlb is. I never wanted him on the Yankees. I wonder if it's all deferred.
I’m not mad at the dodgers for spending and doing what it takes to win championships…. Yankees used to do it too. Just wondering what happened , and why the Yankees don’t do what it takes anymore? Are they bent on making sure judge never wins a championship? Or are they happy enough selling tickets for short porch regular season home runs .
They don’t have the private equity money that the Dodgers or Mets have. I’m not defending Hal being cheap, but all of their equity is in the Yankees and that’s about it. If the Yankees want to compete with the mega-owners of the Dodgers and Mets, they probably have to sell off some of the organization and raise capital. They also just made point blank bad moves this offseason. Tendering Grisham early and waffling around with Bellinger was mind blowingly dumb.
Hopefully bellinger caves some on his ridiculous asking price. Not sure anyone is interested in even matching what the Yankees offered at this point .
