Zach Wilson was a NOBODY up to 5 months before the draft. Then he flew up the rankings....like DeWayne Robertson, Dee Millner, and Vernon Ghoulston. I've been watching every Jets QB since Joe Namath. I never saw 3 worse interceptions and I saw Richard Todd throw 30 in 1980 and 5 in the Mud Bowl of 1983. At least he was throwing the ball 20 or 30 or 40 yards downfield. Zach is trying to throw it away and it hits Devin McCourtney. There's a sense of entitlement with Zach Wilson because he's always been the best player on the field: in Pee Wee football, Junior High School, High School, College. Now, the WORST players are better than 95% of the BEST ones in college and the throws he got away with for 10 years don't work.
Yup that's always been Zach's problem. At BYU he played like Mahomes, but that style only works if you're the most talented player on the field. At the NFL level, Mahomes is still the most talented player on the field, but Zach isn't. It's like Manziel 2.0. To be clear, I'm referring to Manziel's playing style, NOT his character issues.
I am not sure if it's impressive. Most people claim it's deranged. I have been a Jets fan all the way back to 1967. Being a proud Masshole, the Pats are still my #1 team. Due to my age, I think therapy is way too late.
Zach, Becton, Moore and Mims are four very high draft picks who have not only failed to produce, but have become a detriment to the team. Imagine how good this Jets team would be if JD had not whiffed on these four very early 1st and 2nd Rounders. As a result, one can assume if Zach turns out to be an expensive miss like Darnold, heads will roll, which is why the coaching staff and management are shit scared to replace an ineffective QB who is looking more and more confused as the season progresses. As has been documented, Darnold's rocky tenure in North Jersey destroyed his confidence to the point where he could not even beat out damaged goods Baker Mayfield for the starting job. If Zach continues to be given enough rope to hang himself along with the Jets' playoff chances, he runs the risk of bottoming out his confidence and following Darnold down the Boulevard of Broken Dreams.
What is frustrating about Zack is that he has talent. His ability to allude the rush is ruined by his poor decision-making throws. In the Pats game, he did average more yards per play than Mac Jones. He has a better arm than Mac Jones and is more physically gifted. However, one questions his mental faculties when you see him make stupid decisions. How many times do you see him throw off his back foot when not necessary?
In a nutshell: Zach has the physical talent for the position. The question is, does he have the mental acumen for it?
On those interceptions he looked like a High School Freshman QB playing in hi first game. No discipline, throwing off the back foot and hoping to hit a receiver. Is Bailey Zappe available?? Zach try not being a hero.
Every rookie QB I've seen this year looks better than Zach already - except maybe Willis. Ehlinger, in his first start, would have led a miracle win in the last 12 seconds if his receiver didn't drop a perfectly thrown pass. Even 6th rounders like Zappe and Thompson look better. That should be alarming.
I think at this point we're all fairly alarmed. Except for maybe a couple remaining zealots that just blame MLF for everything. And that platform is melting faster than Frosty the Snowman on hot pavement at the moment.
"The Jets moved up three spots to No. 3, while sending the No. 6 overall pick, two second-round choices this year (Nos. 37 and 49) and their second-rounder in 2019 to the Colts." Zach was a single pick. cmon you should KNOW this I said we should stick and take LJ but wtf do I know.
