This year I gave up trying to understand the strength of schedule because Covid and practice rules change the picture into a Jackson Pollack painting.

Even in the playoffs this year, you know some team that shouldn't have a prayer is probably going to take advantage of having a healthier roster and go further.

On the subject of the playoffs this year, my nightmare scenario is every playoff team is swept with Covid while the Patriots are relatively healthy and sleepwalking to another SB and a rookie SB MVP.

Looks like a moderate schedule - not too tough, not cake. If the Jets add pieces like they did last year, they should do pretty well - at least .500, and possibly in the hunt for a playoff spot. Of course if they sustain the injuries and Covid shit they had this year, all bets are off.

Well boss, believe me or not, Steelers can finish at .500 this year. They are 7-7-1. If they split their remaining 2 games, they will be .500. :)

I look at the schedule & see 5 very winnable games Lions, Bears, Jaguars, Broncos, Seahawks. & 3 possible games Dolphins, Dolphins, Vikings. The rest of them are harder but not impossible Green bay, Browns, Bengals, Ravens, Bills, Bills, Patriots, Patriots. I see 6 to 9 wins, Alot rests on the health of the team.

    I'm with you and that's before FA/Draft/etc.

Hopefully by September, we'll feel a little more confident about all of these games but we'll see.

I'd be happy with 6-7 wins and progression.

    Should win
    Jags
    Lions
    Bears

    Winnable depending on their QB
    Steelers
    broncos
    browns
    seattle
    packers

    split games
    miami

    Probably losses
    miami x1
    bills x2
    pats x2
    bengals
    ravens
    vikings

So i'm thinking worse case 3-14
    best case 9-8

likely 6-7 wins which is a good improvement.

    2020 2 wins
    2021 4 wins
    2022 6-7 wins
2023 9-11 wins and a playoff possibility. this will be year 3 of the rebuild. zach should be hitting his ceiling. we'll have 2 more drafts and offseasons to improve the roster. saleh and MF should have their systems full go with the players to run them. The only wrench i could see being thrown in is if someone takes MLF away to make him a head coach

I think that's a fair take to have right now.

Like I said above, I'm hoping that we'll all feel a little more confident after the offseason but we'll see.

With a good offseason, I think 8-10 wins isn't unrealistic but I need to see the moves we make in the offseason before I'm willing to go out on that ledge.

it's not unrealistic at all. a couple of rookies blow it up. zach makes the 3rd year jump in year 2 (look at burrow right now for example), good FA class. relatively injury free. if that happens 8-10 wins should be obtainable.

I don't think ML has done enough to deserve to be in the HC conversation. Plus I personally think at his age, ( & his friendship with Saleh ), I think he may choose to stick around knowing his time will eventually come. He has a lot of time ahead of him so why rush it and chance tarnishing his resume with a bad showing as HC. His time will come eventually.

you never know. jax, chicago are both looking for HCs and who knows who else will be. stranger things have happened. I do agree its early though and he probably needs a few more years before he gets considered

I hate when the Jets play the Ravens. A history of pain. One tale of pain comes to mind other than the Lamont Jordan HB option pass.

Jermaine Lewis Christmas Eve 2000. So it wasn't only pain, it was Christmas Eve pain. PAIN.

The road schedule is a killer on paper. But we are looking at it with 2021 eyes - the team will look a lot different next year.

Historically the Jets don’t win in Denver or Pittsburgh. The Ravens are always a problem. GB and Minnesota on the road is tough sledding regardless. Seattle too.

But a lot depends on scheduling as in dates - Green Bay in Sep or Dec? Do the Jets play NE or Buffalo in a trap game setting? Injuries? Is Burrow injured the week before the Jets play the Bengals? So many factors.

In today’s NFL anything can happen…..

Not one of The Chimp's better days. Funny how zero affect Flacco wound up being a Jet and Ed Reed, too. The Jets could've had Reed in the draft, can't recall at the moment which muttonhead they picked instead. I just know they screwed something up. : /

On a serious note, yeah, McKnight. I still can't believe he got killed like that. What a terrible thing. The Chimp and other former Jets teammates stepped up being pallbearers (Willie Colon, Antonio Cromartie, Sione Po'uha, Bart Scott, D'Brickashaw Ferguson). RIP indeed. Ugh.

    On a much lighter note . . . PAIN.

that is not an easy schedule but there never is......

we cant pencil in any wins for this team. yes we played "with" the bucs but we also played with the jags and if Lawrence decided to play hardball we could have easily lost to them.

getting to 6-7 wins is one thing, even gase did that. but getting into the 8-9 win category is another and we are miles away from that.

Any guesses on if we get any primetime games. I realize we just had another crap season but we did get one this year at the Colts. The Jets are a big market NYC area team and if they continue to improve this offseason then I could see at least one. Truth is when the Jets actually have a good team they get on primetime a lot. The NY name sells.

It's sad how I once eagerly looked ahead at lists like this thinking about the opponents I'd get to see at home, and also look for potential Jets road trip vacations I could take. These days all I can do is look at who the home opponents are are think "OK, good, won't be surrounded by cheese heads" or "Great, not a ton of Lions fans to contend with" and "No bright orange obnoxious Broncos fans everywhere this time"
