I see what you’re saying but this thread is Pennys mock off season. In Penny’s mock off-season he signed a quality RG. If Penny didn’t sign a RG, then sure I get it- I’m still not a fan but I’d get behind it… but he did sign a RG. Did you know Iky has never played on the right side… ever… actually, he took 1 snap 2 years ago at RT. Fant is good on the left, ng on the right. I’d have concerns about asking a top 10 pick to play out of position.
IMO Zion Johnson at guard plus 3 to 4 extra day 2 picks is worth much greater than moving a tackle drafted at 4 to guard. If you are worried about a backup tackle you can use the salary cap savings on not paying the 4th pick on Moses.
Certainly not a FINAL 53 man roster by any means. They would likely still be active after in signing UDFAs and also June 1st cuts. I hope you enjoyed the video. It was mostly for fun and banter!
I’d love to bring LDT back, but I think he wants to be a starter in the NFL and by adding Tomlinson, it essentially rules him out.
Just because you don't see why doesn't mean there isn't valid reasons to discuss his POV. And you - and anyone else - are free to ignore him. This is an opinion forum. At least NC goes to the bother of doing research and providing factual basis for his opinions. That said, this also isn't a courtroom and we don't need to provide court-sanctioned proof for what we believe. But you can do or say whatever you want to.
It takes two to tango to trade down from 4. Who is trading up to 4 and who are they targeting? I think a trade down from 10 more probable with a team like Pittsburgh that apparently *loves* Malik Willis.
YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE PROOF!! *imagine that was Jack Nicholson from a few good men. (Idk how to add a gif let alone change truth to proof)
I agree. The problem is finding a trading partner in a draft where most people want to trade down not up. Likely, we would have to take less than optimal value. The three teams that might be interested in trading up to 4 are Washington, Denver and Carolina. If more than one of those teams is interested in Pickett it would be great. From there you could then go backwards as you suggested to Pittsburgh, NO, Tampa or Detroit. With a weak QB draft and lots of FA QBs available this list of 7 will get reduced quickly once FA starts. Johnson seems to be the kind of Guard that JD would covet; a team leader, versatile has played LT, guard and even center at the SB, hard working, extremely intelligent, nasty, able to push defenders off the ball and mobile. But, it is the intangibles that seem to say a JD pick. Staying after practice at the SB to practice playing center, willingness to try playing center, strong academics and strong character. This is a guy JD could fall in love with.
