Obviously fortunate circumstances for the game last night but still a remarkably different team than under Lambert showed up to play.
Another depressing loss to the Kraken. This team really needs to rebuild but Lou can't be the one doing the rebuilding. This Sunday is Rangers vs Islanders at MetLife. I hope the Isles can give a good effort even if they don't win which they probably won't.
You beat me to it - I just texted my daughter that this is one of the worst losses in years. This team is going nowhere this year, and the future is pretty bleak, too.
Lou lamoriello has to be next, this is the team he has built. They suck and he is the only one who has control over this roster.
And somewhere Lane Lambert was watching undisciplined hockey, stupid penalties, soft goaltending and the blown lead and feeling vindicated.
22-18-14. 22 wins in 54 games. Thanks Lou. I will not get excited about this team until Lou is gone. The short-term future of this team is going to be painful. A lot of aging vets on bad contracts. Nobody in the farm system who can help out. We are at or near the cap. Even if the Isles make a good hire at GM after Lou is gone that GM will have a huge task rebuilding the franchise. It's going to take some time to recover from the damage Lou has done. We did get some good news. The ASG is coming to UBS in 2026. Another blown two-goal lead in the third period, but amazingly enough Islanders actually get the second OT point for only the 7th time in 21 games. Pelech with his first goal of the season to win it.
Joe Pantorno on X: "The #Isles/#NYR 2024 NHL Stadium Series delivered the most-viewed regular-season game since ESPN re-acquired the #NHL rights in 2021. The game averaged 1.6 million viewers." / X (twitter.com)
3 goals in 32 seconds. Pathetic. At this point I only care about L&M firing Lou so the rebuild can being. If they keep him, then this team will continue to spin its wheels.
I really hope Lou gets canned after this season. Look at this stat. Awful just awful. on X: "#isles have played 21 games since the start of 2024. They have exactly three regulation wins. Overall, 17 points out of possible 42 (40.4%). That’s an 82-game pace of 66 pts. That’s not bad hockey. That’s awful." / X (twitter.com)
The only thing saving Lamoriello's job is Ledecky and Malkin's stupidity, but unfortunately that's been true for a few years now, and there's nothing that indicates it is changing. I see little to be hopeful about on the horizon, at least for a while.
Missing the playoffs this season should spell the end of Lou’s tenure unless he sells them on a rebuild and orchestrates some good trades that jettison some salaries.
Another surprising win on the road. Isles become the last team to score an empty net goal this season.
