Who's better ? The "reclamation project" Darnold or the much heralded, anointed by Tony Romo Wilson? This game also has a storyline for both Coaching staff...has Joe Brody and Matt Rhule brought SD back to life ? Or this is no match for Saleh LaFleur and Cavanaugh crafting of Zach Wilson? Of course we know Football is a Team game and the best team usually wins on all phases. However and regardless of the final outcome, as I posted before , The BYU boy MUST outperform the USC kid or Joe Douglas dream will go down the toilet!
Carolina has some young CBs that are pretty good. It will be interesting to see how the Jets WRs stack up against them. Jaycee Horn and Donte Jackson are pretty good tandem on paper.
Who the hell knows where he went this time but his history of going walkabout probably should have tipped off Jets management that his head and heart were not in football when they hired him. I don't know how anyone could be calling him competent today.
All I know is, they called his sherpa to set up an interview because they wanted a guy who was coaching where football is going. Apparently football is going under a waterfall near a hidden bald eagle nest.
That makes sense. Coleman has the most experience and probably the RB they trust most to help Zach and the offense. Foley is much better vs the run than Rankins, and is no slouch on getting pressure on opposing QBs.
I am interested to see how each OC comes out with their young QB's. You would think they want to establish the run for both Wilson and Darnold, but I could also see one of them being aggressive trying to make a quick splash play to start the season off right. I wouldn't mind letting Zach throw on 1st Down early. I just don't want a Gase style of 1st and 10 run. Gain 2. 2nd and 8 run. gain 1. Set your QB up for 3rd and long. That would be bad.
As long as Zach does not start the game with a pick 6 the new era will be off to a better start. Although, Sam is more than welcome to start his Carolina career with a pick 6.
Well if we have the preseason to go on, I do not think our offensive game plan will be as you hope it is not. I am also on the side of letting Zach get comfortable. While an immediate splash could be big for the overall game flow, I would imagine they will slowly work him throughout the game and ease into bigger passing plays. I could be wrong, but I think the run game is going to be a large part of our game plan all year.
I think your spot on. I like what I saw in the preseason as far as play calling and the willingness to throw on 1st down. Zach seems well suited to direct an offense that methodically moves the ball... and the chains... downfield without making drive killing mistakes. That's what I hope for anyway... an efficient clock eating offensive machine. Once we're up three scores... what the hell... let Zach chuck it around for stats and prop bets...
Sam threw a pick six his first pass but we still won the game. Fun fact, that was the last time we were above .500. Sam's whole career we were only above .500 for one week. (Okay, not so fun of a fact) If we win on Sunday it will be the first time we're above .500 in 3 years.
Yeah, that is probably the LEAST fun fact I have heard in awhile! Nice gif reference! Agreed. Can't wait!
22 votes so far. 17 says Jets will win. 78% to be exact. Either we are delusional or this Zach-Saleh combo give a lot of us hope.
Cole is on the injury report with a knee. Looks like Mims may see legit action this Sunday if Crowder can't play.
I'm not impressed with the Panthers; I think we can beat them. Doesn't mean I think we'll finish with a winning record.
If this is the case, this is Mims chance to make or break a lot of people. Whether for good reason or not, Mims has to show something.
It's nerve-racking but it's definitely a relief to be this excited for Jets football again. Last year was such a piece of shit year. All I looked forward to was the food and beer on Sunday. Fantasy football sucked balls, because of COVID, and our Jets were fuckin garbage. I'm so hoping for a change man. I think we are so close to see that pendulum swing the other way. I believe in JD, Saleh, and Wilson!
