It's not only the SOG (Trotz has said how he doesn't care about that number so much), it's the quality of the shots on goal, which has been high. And that doesn't count the one that hit the post and the wide open net that Drouin missed.
If any one of our shooters had gone 5 hole they would have scored,,,,,,,that was a painful one my friends
It’s not the first time we have seen top lines go cold, Beauvillier has been cold as the ice they play on, while I’m upset they gave up a lead and didn’t win the game. It’s about points, they have gotten points in the past six games, truth is they can’t win them all. Give Habs credit for not taking isles for granted. That’s the issue with being a top team, everyone is going to bring their best game and isles better get used to it. I’m still very happy with Islanders performance to start the season.
Bad game last night and they still got a point. 5-0-2 in their last 7 which makes 12 out of a possible 14 points. Thursday against Tampa is another big challenge. LGI.
Bailey with physical play in front of net, I have to give him credit, he usually ends up losing those physical battles. Nice job Bailey!
And then terrible play in the offensive zone with the extra man results in another turnover by Pulock and an empty net goal. Terrible ending to the game.
Mayfield was doing that last year, not sure if he’s feeling too much pressure to make something happen. Beauvillier put on 4th line, he has been atrocious as well. That’s the downside of a young team.....mistakes because they try too hard!
Disappointing stretch but, as fans, perhaps it recalibrates our desire for success versus the need to bring our young guys up at some point, which is more difficult to do if we are doing consistently well. The way we’ve lost these three games is more concerning than just losing them.
Great third period to end the skid and avoid a replay of the Montreal game. Glad to finally see Barzal getting points and a PP goal. It’s a good feeling, as a fan, to expect your team to be able to break losing streaks before they get too out of hand and the team can actually deliver. I never felt that way last season.
I’m happy Ladd was moved up as well, he’s too good of a veteran hockey player to keep on third and fourth line.
