Better to win ugly than lose pretty,,,,this should have been an easier game ! Islanders were playing better a few weeks ago than they are now,,,I know they have a few injuries and I will take the record but man we are sweating out wins lately !
Huge win tonight. JT was a beast with 4 points 2G 2A. Nice have a 4 game winning streak heading into Mondays showdown with the Rangers. Time to beat these guys for a 4th time.
In town for Toyfair; went straight from JFK to the game and got great tickets at the box office. Great start to my trip.
Team is really doing well,,,,great to see,,,,its been wayyyyyy too long.in years past these 1 goal wins ugly or not would have been losses. Looking forward to Mondays game
I'm still worried about the penalty kill being last in the league, this team would be unstoppable if they got their penalty kill to a respectable level.
I would dettle for anything better than last or in the bottom of the league ! They have a month and change to get it straightened out,,,,,tonight should be fun,,,,,,hopefully we get the win at home and beat these guys again !
Great win tonight. This was their best performance in quite some time. Beat the best team in league and get losses from Pitt and NYR(SO). Only bad thing tonight was a Caps win
…….lot of 'crickets' since Monday. Tuesday…crickets…Wednesday, more crickets……. does this team actually have a fanbase when they're not good?
Well they beat a crappy Canes team Tuesday which is nothing to brag about. Monday sucked but I would love a playoff series between the Isles and Rangers. If Monday's game is any indication a playoff series between them would probably give me a heart attack. As far as the fanbase goes you can't really fault them for not showing up after all the crap from lousy ownership over the last 20 years. A good Isles site is Islandermania.com for tons of Isles talk. FYI
Joe , if that was directed at me maybe you should go reread some of my posts on this thread,,,I don't post after every win, and btw there have been a lot of Islander wins this year,,,,and I don't post after every loss. On a side note good game by the isles tonight they beat a very good predator team ,,and soundly I might add !
It's all good. My (playfull) busting chops aside, you guys are the standard bearers of the division and last night's pull away 5-2 win over the Preds was just another example of their impressive body of work - very nice win. They've clearly taken over from the Pens and come the playoffs, it looks like the sky's the limit. Go Jets .......(& LGR!)
I am looking for some help here. I will be attending my first Islanders game next week vs. Carolina. I am from New Jersey and have been to countless Devils games, but I have always had a fascination with the Islanders. I am a casual hockey fan but I always felt like the Islanders were more of my team for some reason, even though I have a hard time rooting against the Devils. I've been talking about going to a game at Nassau before they moved for a while, and now the heat is on with not much time left, so this saturday is the best opportunity. First question, is there anywhere cool to go before/after the games near the stadium? This will be a special occassion so I don't mind making a day of it. Likewise, any places to avoid? How necessary is a parking pass? I'm guessing very necessary. I'm trying to save a couple of bucks but I imagine in the end its not worth the hassle. But, if I get in early enough and maybe hit up a cool bar or something, maybe I can park somewhere somewhat safe and walk a little bit to the stadium? I know its a long shot, but just checking. Ill probably end up getting the pass. Any help is appreciated. As I said, I've been talking about going to see the Islanders at Nassau before they moved for some time now, so I'm looking to make an adventure of it. Any information whatsoever to make this a great day would be appreciated immensely. Great to see the Islanders are doing so well this year. Also, , I am trying to do my research but if anyone wants to recap what has gone on this season ( I try to follow as much as I can) or what to watch for I'd love to hear it. I'd like to have a clue going into the game. I'll be tuning in to a couple of the games this week to get to know the team better. I've been casually watching the Islanders for a few years now but if any die-hards want to give me some interesting facts I am all ears. Thanks!
665,,,,no parking pass necessary ,,you pay for parking as you enter and park wherever you wish. If you want to eat before the game , go google restaurants in the area there are plenty of them in East Meadow and many within a 10 minute drive .
Great to know! Any restaurants that you know are good? Don't mind googling but is there one that stands out in particular? Really just looking to get the most authentic vibe of what it's like to go to an Islanders game. Thanks for the help!
First place that comes to mind is " Majors " we like this place a lot ! There are many places that the players frequent also .
I am an Isles fan from NJ as well. If you don't want to drive around the Island looking for a place to eat/drink just head over to the Marriott which is right next to the Coliseum. Inside the hotel is a place called Champions. Lots of Isles fans hang out there before the game. Eat/drink before the game and when it's time to go just walk next door to the Coliseum so you don't have to worry about driving. Just park in the Coliseum parking lot and you are good to go.
