Bad decision to throw the ball in play. An even worse decision to leave Darnold with an empty backfield on 3rd and Long, and with a bad foot. Luck, including bad luck, "is the residue of design," and all that...
What did Sam see there tho? He tried calling Herndon back but there were still two Bills defenders blanketing him. I don't get it. Just throw the ball away.
There was nothing there on that throw. Don't mind if a DB makes a good play to create a TO, but that was so awful on Sam's part. I get that he's frustrated and is clearly trying to do too much...
Sam needs a clean slate with a new CS and more talent around him next year. He definitely still needs to prove himself, no doubt.
The fact that we still have no plan for a mobile QB is another indictment on this coaching staff. It's mind boggling how little improvement this team shows.
I can't decide if I am or not. The Jets just can't seem to get it right when it comes to QB's. Until they do, it's almost like you have to keep swinging and hope that the law of averages eventually takes over. 40+ years following this team. Closest thing I have seen to high level QB play is Ken O'Brien, 1-2 years of Vinny Testaverde and Chad Pennington.
In fairness, Bowles probably spent the week getting them ready for Matt Barkley and Nathan Peterman. Not enough time to prepare them for Allen, it would seem.
Guess we really should have gone all-in on Kirk Cousins. Then again, we kind of did and in the end he knew better than to come here.
