Please, no Geno. I'd rather stick with Fitzpatrick (who I'm not particularly impressed with anyhow) and see what we can do later. The Bills seem to have found Tyrod Taylor just fine. With the caliber of this defense, that's all the QB play we need.
Bah. Suh is overrated. Got paid, now he's fat, dumb and happy. I'm glad the Phins bit on that; our defensive acquisition was way better than theirs.
Except that week 3 loss. Tyrod Taylor? We have a better o-line and a #1 WR though. We don't, but we need to find out. You're right about this, but I think we will smash Miami. If Fitz plays poorly he should be benched even in a win.
Funny how the Geno haters remember he threw three interceptions against Buffalo, but they forget how they weren't all his fault. One was a perfectly thrown pass where the receiver slipped and fell before the ball got there.
The plus for Geno is youth, and arm strength to throw interceptions farther down field. If you don't make a change down 21-0 at the half at home, probably not going to happen in the next couple of games.
Geno will play before the end of the year. U can bet on that. Hopefully sooner than later. I want to see him play, not because I think he is the future, but because I want to erase any doubt about whether he is or not. I don't want to waste another year after this trying to figure out if he is going to meet his potential. He should either be seen as the Jets future QB after this season or he shouldn't be on the team at all; unless he is a clear backup. I don't want anymore time wasted on him trying to figure out if he will finally put it together. I don't want him taking reps from a potential starter because the staff still feel that he can be good, but they didn't get a good enough look from him since he didn't really play much this year At the same time, i find it stupid when people act as if they already know he won't be good. He has been horrendous at times, yes, but he has also shown flashes that makes you feel he can be pretty good if he just can figure it out. If there was someone who was clearly better on the roster, I would get it. I would say don't even bother trying to figure it out. Fitzpatrick is not clearly better than Geno. The coaching staff don't think he is. Otherwise, Chan Gailey(who was around Fitzpatrick much longer than he has been around Geno) wouldn't have made it clear all off-season that he wanted Geno to be the starter. From all reports, Geno was having a really good camp. Fitzpatrick didn't outplay Geno to become the starter. He was destined to be holding a clipboard until Geno got punched
Not to pick at nits, but Bowles and staff were not here for the last two seasons, so they only have the offseason and part of TC to evaluate him, not when games counted and with a better team around him. If the team's playoff chances are over, you don't get an accurate picture of Geno, either. Each of the last two season when the team was out of the playoff hunt is when he played the best. Mac and Bowles need to see if he can play at that higher level when the games are meaningful.
Don't give up yet. Mac and Bowles are too competent and smart to let the fans and media influence them in their decision-making. I trust that if Petty proves not to be the answer, that Mac will find us one in the draft.
If it was the 2nd or 3rd game in a row where we were down 21-0 at half time, I'd agree with you, but it wasn't. Everyone has a bad day. The D wasn't playing particularly well, either, so it wasn't like everyone else was playing great and only Fitz was sucking. If that level of play continues, then I'm sure that Bowles will make a change following the bye.
