I think there are still some good WR's and Offensive Linemen available and we can still get some solid value out of the 49th pick, if we do trade up hopefully we don't give up too much.
Cooks went to a great situation, honestly probably the single best situation he could have gone to. If you asked me pre draft what team would probably get the most production out of Cooks, I would have told you the Saints. I figured they'd go defense though.
The best receiver from last year's draft wasn't drafted in the first round neither. We'll see in due time. Whoever gets Lee will get a steal.
Everyone has to remember the situation a receiver (or any player) was drafted into. Austin or Patterson still have a good shot of ending up the best WR from the 2013 draft.
There you have it; he might as well just quit football as he has no shot of doing anything in the NFL.
I agree he could be a steal in the 2nd. Ive said I would have been relatively happy with Lee at 18 due to need. I have him rated between 20-25. I was hoping we might sneak in the back end of the 1st and grab him. Latimer, Lee, Adams, Matthews, Landry, Robinson all still available. We have options.
Personally for round two I personally would strike off Latimer, Lee and Robins and add Moncrief to the 2nd round options. I think Mtattews and Moncrief have the best chance of being there with the Jets pick without trading up.
http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2014/05/nfl_draft_2014_jets_select_xx_with_first-round_pick.html 5-10 years ago I would have been very excited about this pick. Now I just see a lot of unsportsmanlike penalties, fines and possible suspensions in our future.
I think what will be most interesting in the 2nd round is when the next plateau of TE's come off the board and when/IF a RB comes off the board in the 2nd.
This is my biggest concern about the pick, not the talent but rather with the NFL moving more and more towards being the NFFL (national flag football league). A guy who hits like this is gonna get flagged, fined and suspended in the current NFL environment. (I'm old school and love this type of safety, just in today's game they can be as big of a liability as they are an asset.)
dom cosentino @domcosentino Follow Some reporter just asked Steelers' first-round pick Ryan Shazier why he shaves his eyebrows. Shazier: "I actually have alopecia." Oops. 10:59 PM - 8 May 2014
Jets love Jace Amaro ... If he's there at 49, I think he's the pick, if not then a WR in the slew of WRs left .. I also think one could be had in round 3. Other options will include OLB, ILB, CB, OG, OT. I think Pierre Desir and Demarcus Lawrence are also names to keep in mind. Van Noy comes off before Jets pick, so does Lee.
I really like Trent Murphy for our 2nd rounder, as I've said in many other threads. I think splitting snaps with Pace for this year would be a great way to integrate him into our offense.
Lol look at these cleveland people's reaction of Johnny being drafted http://cleveland.cbslocal.com/2014/...o-crazy-when-the-browns-draft-johnny-manziel/
Murphy or Lawrence would be good OLB prospects, Lawrence being a little more athletic but not as solid technique wise, ASJ could come into play if he's there as well, these next 2 days excite me more then round 1.
