Agree. Could go Ebron, Trade down for Amaro, Draft Dennard or other CB, Draft an offensive linemen, Draft Clinton-Dix/Pryor. Much easier than being boxed into drafting a wide reciever.
i'd be alright with the trade even though i don't see it happening gives us a chance to draft either gilbert, dennard, or barr
Can't believe he is only 27... Do you guys realize how much this guy impacts the game??? I'm over here smiling from ear to ear at work.
He signed a new 5 yr contract before the 2012 season, was injured and out 5 games so only put up 700 yds, he the has a great year 2013 and immediately says he deserves a new contract. He is worth his current contract but not sure if he is worth having if he is going to want a new contract after every good season.
I agree, anybody who makes our football team better is a good move. On top of that he is familiar with the offense having played under Marty, it instantly makes our offense dynamic with him opposite Decker.
if we trading a pick for a guy, i'd much rather Joseph. although chances are probably very slim of that happening. i wouldn't completely dislike signing Jackson, as he could help the offense. just would prefer we held onto the draft pick, and found other ways of wisely spending our cap room on team first guys. Offseason has been a bit baffling to me thus far.
Jonathan Joseph would be a great pickup for us, extremely underrated corner but is he really on the trade block or is it just rumors.
He signed the contract before the 2012 season and only got $750K base salary because he received a $10M signing bonus but he would look even worse if he signed a new contract before last season and is already looking for a new one.
We aren't boxed into a WR. Going into the draft with Decker and Kerley as penciled starters, we can grab a guy in the second with all the depth at WR this draft. I'm worried about giving up a pick AND taking on 3 years of DJax for $36 million. Granted the guaranteed money for 2016 is only $2 million, but still that's such a big contract. DJax had 1,332 yards in 2013, and will be paid $12,750,000. Decker had 1,288 yards in 2013 but will be paid $7,500,000. Thats $5.25 more for 50 more yards. It's not that I'm opposed to Jackson's skill set, but I'm opposed to the cost.
They have so much cap space it's not even funny. So we are now afraid of paying one of the top deep threats in football? Who do you want the jets to get? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk
Strictly going by the product on the field - IF jackson comes here i have to admit our WR would look much better heading into the draft..... Imagine adding one of the TE/WR studs as well. Opposing defenses may actually have to account for someone.
I'm still on the fence... he sounds nice but his history scares me and does go against Idzik's philosophy, and what he has been doing since he got here so I doubt it actually happens... that said he would look nice on our team... doubt he gets traded for anything less than a 3rd.
Well like Revis they have never been a problem on the field or in the locker room. DJax was asked if he wanted a raise and he said yea which is what everyone would say for the most part. Its not like he's holding out for a new contract.
Tom Brady got into a screaming match with his OC once too. Patriots been trying to get rid of that cancer for years.
This is the same reason I'm Lol, first off it's not about fear it's about value. People keep saying Decker isn't a WR #1 so we overpaid for him. The thing is we paid him less than: Calvin Johnson ($13 mil) Percy Harvin ($13.4 mil) Mike Wallace ($17.25 mil) DeSean Jackson ($12.75 mil) Vincent Jackson ($12.4 mil) Dwayne Bowe ($12 mil) Brandon Marshall ($9.3 mil) Larry Fitzgerald ($8.6 mil) Stevie Johnson ($8.5 mil) Pierre Garcon ($9.7 mil). This just shows how we did not overpay Decker. DJax is not the 3rd or 4th best WR in the league, so that contract is not good value. I want 1 or 2 WR's in the draft, and they don't have to be first round guys. If we get DeSean Jackson, like I said I'll cheer on Sundays but these are my reasons to pass on trading for him.
