While I agree that Hill didn't show anything spectacular, this upcoming season will be his 3rd, and that's often when WRs "click". If you think about it, his first two poor years can be at least in part explained by circumstances. First -- Sanchez at QB with shitty OL = little time to throw (besides being Sanchez of course). Second -- rookie Smith. Now, Hill did plenty of shit himself like getting ball bounced off his chest and going right through his hand.

I have hope though. Perhaps with a litle stability in O, a little more experience of Geno, a little mentoring from Decker and ... well. it's 3rd year after all, he might show something. IMO he should get another year of "show me", this year. If the shit continue, I'll sign him off into Sanchez category, e.g. "you can't cure stupid".

And I guess Revis could easily reinjure his knee too but that didn't stop NE.

He had knee surgery to repair a torn ACL. Granted, that's a serious injury, but having dealt with it myself, once surgery is done, it becomes very hard to re injur that same knee. Cromartie is dealing with a hip injury that could turn into something a lot more serious with constant use.

And you're right about Revis which is part of the reason he took a pay cut and New England signed him on a one-year deal.

Signing any player is a risk signing a player after an injury is even a larger risk. Signing a player that has injured the same thing twice is beyond a risk not many take unless for dirt cheap.

All I was saying is that Cro would come much cheaper than DRC and probably on a 1 or 2 year deal and even if starts hurting him again he can play through it. The only game he has missed in 8 years was when the Jets gave the starters off before the playoffs began..I would take that chance with him anytime.

And we all saw how his game was playing through injury.

Yeah but you have to admit his playing threw it last year hurt us a lot on defense. I would love to see cro come back on a cheap deal but i wouldnt feel comfy if
we didnt have a "drc" to pick up if he does re aggravate the hip or something else.

If i had a choice between the two id want to bring in DRC for a more long term solution.

No doubt it wasn't as good but neither was it as bad as you are indicating it was. Still better that 3/4 of the corners our there or we would have lost a lot more than 8 games. Again, I just can't see paying his cousin 10M a year with basically 28M guaranteed. Hardly seems worth that much.

We were paying cro 9 mill a year basically for 2012 /2013 including guaranteed money. Paying DRC who seems to be in Cro 2012 form 10 mill is deff over paying.
Given the situation this seems like the perfect time (cap wise for this and next season) we are in perfect position to over pay someone like drc for the next 2 seasons.

It was exaggerated by how much time our Defense spent on the field.

    Relative to who? Milliner? Wilson?

I like DRC on this team but not at 9 or 10 a year for 3-4 years. I would rather resign CRO on the cheap and get a Carlos Rodgers/Samuel to hold the fort down. Now you would have Milliner, Cro, Rodgers/Samuel,Wilson, Walls, and Lancaster. It would make more sense to me then to have 30 Million tied up in DRC ( and why is he on his 4th team at 28?).

    Relative to past performance.

Cro went from one of the best CBs in the league in 2012 to one of the worst starters in 2013. This is backed up by PFF.

Ranked 103 out of 110 corners in the NFL, actually below both Wilson and Milliner interestingly enough. ( http://imgur.com/a/DEkM8 )

He had his worst year of his career, a year that he is on record stating was a "bad year". He was burned every game, especially the Cincinnati game where he was owned.

I love Cromartie and I would love him back but he had a very bad year last year and anyone who watched him knows that. Whether that was from his hip or not, he needs a much cheaper deal.

I will still take him in a minute at 5-7 on a 2 year deal rather than pay DRC 9-10 for 3-6..in a heartbeat and don't get me wrong, I like DRC.

Rodgers and Samuel would be lost in a typical rex defense. The days of either of those two playing a high man to man coverage are long gone.

If we did that when would Rodgers/Samuel play? They would't be special team players. Wouldn't be in the nickel, Wilson is a solid slot guy already. Maybe in the dime package? Don't see that happening. We're pretty set at corner aside from the #1 corner spot. Milliner at #2, Wilson in the slot at #3, Walls at 4, #5 will probably be a rookie, Lankster is really just an excellent special teams player. DRC sign that dotted line.

You gotta look at longevity with both. Which will last longer and which will have more of a pay off in the long run. That answer is DRC. He is younger and is healthy. He will cost more, but avoids us from looking for another option when Cromartie would get injured or retire.

Idziks plan is in the long run, that is completely obvious. The long term answer would be DRC. No question about it.

To me this makes no sense. We have more capp space then we will be able to spennd. Why would you not take the better corner even if over paid when you have the space to float him for two years.
You bring cro back and you are in the same boat next offseason looking for a corner. This is what leads to having to draft more corners.

30 years old with multiple hip injuries this doesnt say trust or longevity.
