According to Manish, the Jets never made a formal offer to Pettigrew yet I think Schefter said we would be signing him yesterday. Despite how excited I get over tweets of potential signings, we can't believe anything until something goes down.
And who would have thought that outside of Austin Howard, Vlad would be our most sought after free agent by other clubs.
haven't heard any rumblings about Clemons to any team. should be one of the top people we are pursuing at this point. would allow us to slide Landry back to his better suited position of SS. Allen can compete with Landry, and continue to get on the field in 3 safety defenses. I'd be comfortable with that Safety situation, and would of course still weigh options in the draft for the future.

totally agree..and then you have teams like the Raiders that do that every 5 or 6 years and the Redskins..and several years later they are all struggling to cut..cut..cut. Im not sure the answer...the only thing I know for a fact is that if Tanny was still in charge we would be sitting here with 5 guys signed..about 7 million left..and being scored a C for off season moves by the Jets. Im sure there is a solid gameplan in place. The only positions that really bother me is the secondary. That bothers me. Now if Idzik comes out on August 1st with a really solid secondary, I would be very impressed. I actually like the RT signing. I really didnt understand the love for Howard...and I would prefer a solid run blocker at the RT position any day of the week. I cant remember Howard doing anything positive in the run game...that was a hell of a lot of money for a guy that was an experiment just a season and a half ago.

You should be just as worried about our OL as you are the secondary. We have an average at best RT, no RG at all unless Colon comes back at age 99 and a LG that isn't very good either..on top of that I would say Brick had the worst year of his career last year and Mangold isn't getting any younger..i would be real worried about our OL.
Not a bad contract ... Howard got 5 yrs for 30 million. So we signed Breno for half (more like close to it) of what Howard got in a lateral move. Impressive. Hopefully he comes and plays well.
