I wouldn't mind DRC but Tracy Porter is in my opinion a must. He was great last season, and would come with a value contract.
Coples and Barnes is all we need? Barnes is merely situational, and the verdict is still very much out on Coples. If Coples fails at outside linebacker this season I would definitely consider him either a bust, or us just not knowing how to use him. He was taken #16 overall and his production has been meh. OLB is definitely a need, especially one who can decently cover. Coverage linebackers are vital in today's NFL.
Coples had a really strong rookie season, he struggled for the first part of last season but he was switching positions and got hurt towards the end of the preseason. From the Saints game on he started playing well.
Sigh i hate going back and forth with people who either dont understand our defense or dont watch the games. Coples spent about 80% of his snaps with his hand in the dirt. our olb's very rarely go out into coverage and when they do is simple under zone coverages. What you want is better ilb coverage guys. Davis has made huge strides and harris is financially not at a point where we will move on from him. Once again olb is not a huge need for us this offseason. DB is a top 3 round priority for us if we dont solidify these positions threw free agency
urgh Pettigrew, he drops passes all of the time. Especially in the RZ. What's good with Ted Ginn Jr? Any interest?
Expect something shortly...... I hope! “@MMehtaNYDN: Sources: Jets in communication w/ free-agent TE Brandon Pettigrew. Lions, Raiders in mix. Deal expected shortly #nyj http://nydn.us/1kOYUDA”
I don't want Pettigrew at any price. I was scared we were going to overpay Decker. Pettigrew just isn't a good football player.
NYJetsExpress @NYJetsExpress 1m Looks like things are moving fast with Pettigrew. Sources say deal with #Jets coming soon. Looks like with Pettigrew and Sudfeld and Cumberland, we wont be going TE in the draft, atleast in the 1st.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...grew-hopes-teams-value-blocking-at-tight-end/ Pettigrew was used a lot in blocking sets. Says in article, "hopes teams value a blocking TE".
Pettigrew is an excellent blocker, he's a big target just drops passes. Would have been nice to pair Pettigrew with Ebron but oh well.
So basically, he'd look damn good next to Cumberland in 2 TE sets? This signing makes total sense if it does happen.
I go to school at the University of Michigan, and most of my friends are Lions fans. All of them say Pettigrew has regressed as a blocker, and is a mediocre receiver. Average at best blocker with poor receiving skills. Why?
