Shane Vereen ran for 100 yards on them - he's a good pass catching back, but that's pretty much it. I guess that awful run D still exists. There are definitely plays to be made if we can get through the defensive lineman.
For those saying Manuel is dinking and dunking: 21% of his passes have traveled more that 15 yards from the LOS in the air. QB's that % is higher than: Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Matt Ryan, RG3, Russel Wilson. That is not meant to say Manuel is comparable to any of those QB's, it just shows his tendencies vs. elite QB's
i don't know how much stock i would put into what vereen did when guessing what might be there for the jets. the bills were playing pass all the way against brady.i doubt geno gets the same respect.
Good research here. Is that 21% of EJ's completed passes or 21% of EJ's pass attempts? Also if you still have the data, it would be good to provide some context. Two things that would be good to include are: (1) the number of passes "passes beyond 15 yards from the LOS in the air" that EJ has completed; and, (2) what is EJ's completion percentage of "passes beyond 15 yards from the LOS in the air" compared against the QBs listed. Both those figures would better frame his tendencies. In any event, it's a good post. Thanks.
@Noodlearm: I pulled that info off of advancednflstats.com so I can't take credit for the research, I just found it surprising. Going only on the eye test, I would tell you that his completion percentage downfield is not very high.
the key being "all the way down field" and not " a couple first downs then a turnover". people used to say that about brady... all he does is dink and dunk. thats a hell of a lot hard then people like to make it out. we certainly couldnt manage it the past 4 years
you awnsered your own question... "because the jets pick is bound to be more valuable" we can do better, especially factoring need with that first round pick the richardson. we are kind of in the same boat as cleveland, we sure as hell arent going anywhere this year. so why trade our top 10-12 pick? our HBs certainly suck, but id rather not waste a first on an HB, when you can get good ones in rounds 2-6. especially with so many other enormous needs
Not even sure I want Geno playing with the "you shouldn't have passed on me" chip on his shoulder this Sunday. Could see him trying to do too much and costing us and I like that he seems to know when to throw it away, unlike Sanchez. I hope to God we force feed Ivory the ball and never even give EJ/Spiller/FJax time to see if our D can play its 3rd solid straight game.
That's pretty much the way fans pump themselves up. I felt that way for the past two games. Reality happens.
I don't see it that way at all. I see a death match to the end. I see Geno either being the hero or the goat as it could very well go either way. Rex is 6-1 against rookie Qb's sooo, I'd kinda season my excitement with a spritz of trending.. Ms Karma is a cast iron bi-aach.
Manuel's yards per attempt would be even more impressive if they included the 15 yards the ball bounces harmlessly down the field after missing a wide open receiver.
I can live with this kind of mindless trash talk for 2 more days until the Jets slam the car door on your typing finger.
Rex said in his press conference that everyone is at least probable except for Aboushi with a knee issue. Not sure if its a real injury or Rex covering for him being a healthy scratch.
So like seriously, how can the Bills beat the Jets in week 3? I just don't see how it's possible. I'm not so sure EJ can survive this D. It's not exactly rookie friendly. Geno just has to cut back on turnovers and we'll be fine. Awesome news that Coples is in. This should be an interesting match.
He's been a health scratch every game and will continue to be. The Jets are carrying 10 lineman. You only need at the max. 8 active on game hell. Hell, you only need to carry 8 max.
