Which is basically the same line you use over and over when discussing the worlds most popular sport... and once again you will be proven wrong.

On a another note... NBC is about to kick off a $250 million 3 year deal with the Barclays Premiership next week which will vastly increase the amount of Live British Soccer shown on NBC and it's affiliate networks. This is surely another obvious sign that Soccer will never work in American.

    Details:

    Good promo for NBC...

Poor toon gets stuck in Staten Island, good to see Liverpool reppin the Upper West, of course the Financial District gets Chelski. Is Hull really the Harlem of the UK? Obviously I'm just having fun with this but I wonder if they actually tried to make some connections.

on paper maybe including all the free tickets but there's no way they get 20K a game, you posted a video crowing about a great opening day crowd and the building was empty.

That is a sign it is working overseas.

the red bulls new stadium was a novelty, now no one shoes up. The same thing will happen in NYC.

Unlikely as Chelsea is not Chelsea as somebody rightly pointed out in the comments on that page!! West Brom and/or West Ham could have been on the West Side... Aston Villa could have been in the Village... ect ect. But at least it's not a glowing puck so I'm okay with the effort they put in!!

Not really sure what you're trying to say above but I'll give it a go.

The sign (or advertisement) is located in America and it's obviously meant to connect the UK teams to two concepts that Americans will understand, a map of NY and the concept of supporting your local teams.

The first is done for obvious reason, New Yorkers will connect to New York and so the map is something familiar to them and builds a bridge to the content. The second is done because the sport itself is fiercely territorial and so the advertisement is meant to play on that (and tribal/local support) and encourage people to look further into the team that represents the area (on the map) they live in, or at least provoke some thought about it. This is really simple stuff for anybody with a brain that understands the most basic concept of marketing (such as my 10 year old nephew). Connect your audience to your product.

Now you're second comment about the Manhattan Stadium is nothing more then a baseless prediction, and we all know the very low success rate you have in predicting the future of soccer in America. In the end it's trolling... so troll on Junc. We all know yo get off on this.

Manhattan Stadium? when are they getting a Manhattan Stadium?

My success rate has been pretty good, the sport is still way down the totem pole of sports in this Country. Sure it's more popular than it was but they had nowhere to go but up. You guys act like it is about to take over the Country when they put up WNBA comparable ratings. Just b./c they have rich owners who pay half the league's players $30,000 a year doesn't make the sport popular.

After they tear up Yankee stadium for a couple of years in the middle of the season. You know how long it takes to build in NYC.

Actually it's been pretty off base. People have rolled out fact after fact on attendance and viewership yet you put junc rules on those facts to discredit them.

Example: Fact; Seattle draws 40K a game
junc rules; people in the NW have nothing better to do

The only fact that really matters is how much $$$ has been invested by ESPN, Fox and now NBC on a "niche" sport. That doesn't lie and proves without any doubt that the sport is growing in popularity and is obviously being watched by people even at 7AM on a Saturday morning.

actually they haven't, the viewership compared soccer to regionalized broadcast of other sports. Not apples to apples and we know they inflate attendance. Outside of pretty much Seattle the rest of the league averages WNBA #s.

What $$ have those networks invested in soccer in America? This is about soccer in America, not in other places. Just b/c the owners are wealthy and can throw away money does not make it a successful league.

I have no idea but they won't be playing at Yankee Stadium, maybe a game here or here but it won't be their home unless they are paying to re-sod after every game or 2.

Name logical venues for a franchise that just splashed 100 Million to join a league. They need certain amenities to start recouping on their investment.

Yankees are in the soccer business now, get used to it.

I have no idea and I don't care. They aren't playing in Yankee Stadium as a home venue. They wouldn't recoup their investment at YS anyway, the building would be empty. They need a nice 15-20K stadium so it looks full.

They need Luxury boxes. The Sheik will demand it, he needs a luxury box for him and Randy Levine to kiss each others ass about how big their new venture is going to be.

Its nice to see the Yankees have to play second fiddle to REAL money.

No one here has talked bad about the WNBA. We know you are a huge fan, it is your thing, but to compare it to the most popular game in all of the world is insulting.

I am not comparing it around the world, I am comparing it here where the WNBA Finals outdrew the MLS Cup.
