Well, it shows you how much variability there is in team performances from one year to another. It's not like they wanted to have bad matchups - last year all four of those teams finished first or second in their divisions. This year they're 14-32.
To be fair, even last year--when all 4 of those teams finished in the top 2 in their divisions--Jags/Chargers and Rams/Seahawks still would've been shitty games.
Jaguars can't even snap a field goal. fire the long snapper rams/seahawks has been an undesirable matchup for every year for like four years running. ESPN is just stupid. NFC West was considered to be a toss-up among four pretty bad teams. Why would you want to schedule any of them? Only time you could ever argue for a primetime NFC West game was something like last year, when it was Week 17 and it was the only game where it mattered for both teams or something, so NBC flexed it.

Plenty of divisional matchups, but almost all were bad ones. Oddly enough, the week 15 and 16 matchups are actually desirable (pit/sf and atl/no)
I think it's more than a coincidence that the quality of games on Sunday and Monday nights flip flopped as soon as the cable / free broadcast did as well....... just saying. I'm just glad I didn't waste my time going to the game last night
