Calvin wasn't a bad pick, sure it was a reach @ 4 but it is only a reach in respect of not getting an elite back when one was available. With the PPR and such, he can be a top 5 scorer easily. I was surprised you took him there and it threw my plans awry as I thought he would be available @ 11. I think a really good #1 WR can have more value than a mediocre RB in the NFL now. We shall see, I have RB's I am not happy with and really need the young ones I took to step up. It was a gamble but if I didn't I would have been in the middle of the pack anyhow..............
I agree. I've shied away from Colston because he can't figure out what's wrong with that knee, but if he ever heals up, it's a great team.
I agree. I took him as the 4th wr in my league but we only have ten teams so the rosters are a bit deeper. I wouldn't want to need to rely on him but he should do something of value this year. He would be an awesome fantasy option if he had a good qb throwing to him.
I took Wallace too quickly. Jennings would have been the better pick at that spot, but I sat there watching Wallace fall that whole time. I've seen him going early to mid 2nd in my other PPR leagues.
Somebody needs to put Mike Brown, Andy Dalton, AJ Green, Marvin Lewis and the entire city of Cincy into a room, lock the door and then light it on fire.
Except for AJ Green, that's a room full of a faggots and dykes*. *edited for female posters like colleen that want gender equality around here.
The first round isn't for gambling, unless you think Vick posts crazy run/pass totals (I don't) or Megatron has an upside SIGNIFICANTLY better than the Andre Johnson standard of 100+/1500+/8 because you can almost bank that on Andre.
With a healthy Matt Stafford, Calvin Johnson will catch 100+/1500+/10+ TDs. He had 12 TDs and 1200 yards with bums throwing him the ball. I had no shot if I waited for a receiver. I opted to go receiver over a back because I knew the elite WRs would be gone and I could get a couple 1,000 yard backs that catch a lot of passes later. Felix Jones isn't Troy Hambrick or Marion Barber. He's a scary player that has potential to do big things especially in an offense that explosive. I took my highest rated receiver over a back. If I lose because I didn't take a back early, that's my fault.
The first 5 words of your post destroy everything that comes after. I would have taken Calvin in the middle of the second, at the very least after Andre. I've been burned taking him in the 1/2 turn before. I like Felix, though. I hope you have Demarco Murray waiting.
It's worth mentioning as well (and I really like Calvin) that Matthew Stafford isn't some instant and automatic predictor of insane success, or that the other QBs have been insanely holding him back. In fact, here were his numbers the past two seasons: 2009: 14 games, 67 rec, 984 yards, 5 TDs Over 16 games, that would be: 76 rec, 1124 yards, 6 TDs If you push his numbers with Stafford out over 16 games: 81, 1116 yards, 7 TDs Not much of a drop. Last year? He had one HUGE game with Stafford and two shitty games. His numbers with Stafford pushed out over 16? 75 rec, 848 yards, 16 TDs (stemming from that one game) His actual numbers in just 15 games? 77 rec, 1120 yards, 12 TDs Do I think he's better with Stafford? Of course. Do I think he has a solid season? Absolutely. Do I think he's a lock for the numbers you put down? No way.
With our league setting last season: Calvin Johnson: 266.20 points (missed one game) Andre Johnson: 256.60 points (missed two games) CJ put up better numbers with much worse QB play. Saying that Andre Johnson catching 100 balls is a near lock is false. During eight seasons, he's only had three seasons with 100 receptions. I also took Peyton Manning's injury into account. If he misses tons of time, the Texans will have two less shootouts on their schedule.
Andre was hobbled in a lot of games he played in. As productive as he was, he was frustrating for his owners. Prior to that, he had two of his 100 catch seasons. The Manning argument is silly. You could just as easily argue that if Stafford stays healthy and opponents respect the passing game, Detroit will run more. WR depth is better than RB depth this year. I wouldn't have taken a receiver there period, but it doesn't matter. You did you, and you'll live or die by it. I just don't think there's much you can do to convince anyone it was a good move right now.
