I'll enjoy moments. The rest will take some time. Had they not been swept three* times before Patriots Day, they'd be in sole possession of first place. Not that I care about first place in May. I don't. But I'm going to need convincing that those three games won't be critical in September. ETA: On the up-side, Josh Beckett, who has been a MAJOR source of frustration for some time now, seems to be effectively teasing me.
Do you clowns think Beckett's performance will last? I mean, he won't finish the year sub-2 ERA but methinks he could have a 14-17 W season and mid 3 ERA, ~1.2 WHIP.
Seems almost self-evident to say, but the way he's pitching now, if he's anywhere above 200 innings, he'll be more in the 17-20 win range. He's pitching a little different. Throwing fewer fastballs. Keeping the ball in the park. Kind of fun to watch. Which makes up for the Matsuzaka and Lackey games, where the pitching is just maddening. I'm running on the theory that he's embraced the comfortable role of the third starter. It's a work in progress, that could all be blown to hell by a back strain that puts him on the 21-day disabled list through August and rides him all the way into the Fall.
As long as he's healthy, which he never was last year. The last time he was completely healthy, in 2009, he put up basically the exact numbers you just said.
Heh. First win I've been to this season, so I'll thank him for that. I'm going help a couple other guys by bad-mouthing them. Just as soon as they get out of the trainer's room and back onto the field.
Not their best look. Sometimes "nostalgia" is just a kind way of saying, "the crap we wisely left behind."
Don't feed the troll. I just saw Carl Crawford hit a home run. Not really. I heard the announcer get excited and then I saw the ball land in the stands.
