I don't disagree with you there. My point was that media keep pointing to Crawford and Gonzalez as the "big additions." I don't think that's where there's going to see a lot of gains, though, considering the production they lost. And every time they mention those big additions, they almost invariably fail to account for the loss of production from Martinez and Beltre. And keep in mind that before last season, BP had the Sox winning the AL East last year with 93 wins. So +Crawford + Gonzalez + Bullpen help - V-Mart - Beltre = three wins. I didn't mean room for improvement in personnel. I meant room for improvement over 2010 performance. There's a large gap between the performance of Beckett, Lackey, and Dice-K in 2010 and what they have done previously. I'm not saying they'll regain their former glory in their entirety... I just think there's more room for improvement there than there is between what they hope to gain by adding the two guys everyone wants to talk about. There's also more room for improvement there than there is between the career norms of the injured players from last year and the actual performance of the guys who replaced them.
Dustin Pedroia is a prematurely balding smurf. If he didn't play the game the right way I can't imagine what trailer park he'd be living in right now.
Its a long season. ALL teams go into slumps the Sox justed wanted to get it over with now. Just sayin.
still early, and we all know what happened in 09- under 500 until june, didn't win a game against the sox till august. still id be lying if i said i wasn't enjoying the slide.
The Jays are 4-1 and playing really well...but i know better than to read anything more into it. relax Boston fans, it's way too early to hit the panic button.
There's still over a 150 games left to play. The season isn't even a week old. I'm excited to see this Boston team, especially if the talented pitching comes together.
