To be fair they did sign Larry Foote this offseason. Not the best player in the league but a nice free agent signing for the defense. I think that good players would sign in Detroit, it just doesn't make sense to try and break the bank on a few big contracts when the team is more than 2 or 3 players away from competing. Give it a year or two of good coaching and drafting and we'll see a difference. I'm convinced that in a relatively weak division Schwartz and Stafford will start turning things around. It's amazing that the Lions aren't out of this game yet, their defense is doing a great job in the red zone. They need to protect Stafford and get some pressure on Rodgers or things will get very ugly.
They still need help everywhere, but they have some good building blocks. The problem is only one of those pieces is at a core position. Suh, McCoy, Okung - all would help tremendously. Still two good offseasons away from being a legit threat.
My guess, within the next 2-3 years, the NFL is going to have its power shift again. Tons of FAs, the 2010 and 2011 drafts are unbelievably stacked... I would expect to see a lot of movers in the NFL.
Another INT for Stafford. I don't think he's getting as much as usual on his throws, that wasn't even close to reaching the wide out.
Well, through 8 games Stafford had 14 picks. Now he has 16 (so far) through 9 games. Mark Sanchez has thrown 16 picks over 10 starts. Hmmm....
surprised they passed on a try from Crosby in a dome. Rodgers on 4th and 2 is sacked from behind by Peterson and fumbles, not that the recovery mattered. Lions get the ball.
You're crazy. Having a rookie QB throw 39 times/game is proven to be effective. BTW, that's 18th all-time and the most ever for a rook.
Haha - I didn't know he has having Stafford pass the ball that much. (I was really upset with the Lions' coaching staff at the end of the half - you can't have your INJURED rookie quarterback run a hail mary with a swiss cheese offensive line. I was really surprised Schwartz let that play happen. Stafford took a shot on that play.)
It's the only reason why I say that Sanchez would fail hard in Detroit. No rookie QB is going to play well slinging around the ball that much. He's gone over 30 attempts in every start so far.
I'm with you on that. Every quarterback, rookie or not, will fail in Detroit until they build up the offensive line. Also, that team isn't going to win shit if they don't improve their pass defense.
