I just figured asshole was all inclusive.... See my previous posts, I've been trashin him all night....
Leadoff walks kill. after the walk McCarver now says that while he was warming up "there was something that just didn't look right" .....
A few thoughts on the morning after Game #1: - When Matsui's pop-up dropped on the infield, is that what the late, great Phil Rizzuto used to refer to as an "Alfonse Gaston" ("I got it, you take it")? - ESPN has to keep saying that the Yankees took Game #1 of the last two post-season series that the Angels won. Not this time. Yankees pitching is very different (especially CC and the bullpen). - A-Rod really risked reinjuring his bad hip on that play at home. He was dead-to-rights at home plate anyway. Learn how to hook slide! - If there was instant replay in MLB, Scioscia would throw the red flag, the play would be reviewed and the umps would confirm that Tex came off the bag AFTER he caught the ball. The ruling on the field stands! - Weather forecast for tonight in NYC is cold, windy and rainy. If they play at all, it's going to be a rough game. However, Yankees have the home field advantage in the cold weather. GO YANKEES!
On the topic of CC pitching so far into the game. I think Girardi made a choice around the 6th. Rather than pull CC and put Joba in the game, he decided that since CC was dealing and they had the lead at home, instead of going Joba-Hughes-Rivera, he let Sabathia go as far as he could take them. This leaves Joba available for game 4 now. As long as Burnett gets the job done today and they go up 2-0 I'm all but completely certain Joba starts game 4 now. If Burnett and Pettitte both win, Joba will start game 4 and CC will have a full tank going into the World Series. I think if Burnett comes out before the end of the 7th we'll see some combination of Robertson/Coke, Marte and Aceves, as the bridge to Hughes-Mo. Same in the Pettitte game. BTW: Where is Don? Someone needs to eat some Sabathia-flavored crow covered in Cashman sauce. BTW2: Does anyone want to take back anything about Teixeira now? He hit the ball hard against the wall, and that was a great play at first, regardless of what McCarver might have thought. Speaking of Tex's hit to the wall, how many balls stayed in play last night thanks to the wind? Wow.
There's more of a chance they play today than tomorrow. I think they do everything they can to get it in. I hope they do, otherwise playing tomorrow would be at the same time as the Jets.
