Yankees trade Edwar to the Rangers: From Rotoworld Rangers acquired RHP Edwar Ramirez from the Yankees for cash considerations. Ramirez was designated for assignment by the Bombers last week. The Rangers hope they can recapture the guy who averaged 10.2 K/9 in 2008. Ramirez quickly fell in the pecking order in New York, thanks to a 5.73 ERA and 1.95 WHIP in 22 innings last season. Basically, his changeup -- once a legitimate weapon -- has stopped fooling people. Couple that with poor control and a high flyball rate, and it could be a disastrous experiment at the Ballpark in Arlington. Still, it's a worthy one.
Eh. Girardi has been saying that results don't matter and that these were the final tune-up starts before the "competition" begins, for realz. Here's more info from the Lohud blog (which serves as another good reminder as to why you don't pay attention to spring training results): Of course, the fact that Joba can't bust a fastball by a guy inside has me a little concerned about his velocity. I didn't see the games so I don't know what the deal was, whether he just missed over the plate, or if guys were late on the pitches or what. We'll see, I guess.
the stupid ESPN app for iPhone doesn;t have a box score for spring training games...score is all i get.
Some dude who posts on another forum I post at who works at the new Stadium says that his co-worker is banging Joba's Girlfriend. Dude's a chump.
Actually, I think that one might have been an overthrown slider. Seriously. If not, it was the slowest fastball he threw all night.
So, looks like Yankees have lined up Cashman's replacement. After this off season it's none too soon...lol. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/story/...xpadres-gm-towers-as-special-assignment-scout "Former San Diego Padres general manager Kevin Towers has been hired as a special assignment scout by the New York Yankees. "
Excellent point. I can't believe this abomination of a team that Cashman has put together. Look at that weak starting pitching staff....yuck! And where's the offense? I'm just hoping we can win 70 games. Seriously, when was the last time this team did ANYTHING in the playoffs?? F#*kin' Cashman!! Now that Omar Minaya....HE'S a real GM.
Now I wasn't a fan of the Granderson trade or choosing Johnson over Damon, but jeez Don, really? We're defending our World Series title, and looking to have a stronger pitching staff than last year. Even if Granderson and Johnson give us dropoff from Damon and Matsui, we've improved enough in the pitching department to make up for it.
Psst, Don. Cashman and Towers are good friends. Cashman is the one who went after and then hired Towers. ETA: In other news, both Hughes and Chamberlain looked very solid in their recent outings. Joba -- four innings, one run, two hits, one walk, and five K's.... very economical, too. Only 45 pitches to get through the four innings. Hughes -- 4 innings, zero runs, three hits, one walk, and two K's.
Well, duh! I mean, Joba and Phil both threw the LAST four innings of those games. It's obvious their success was because they were coming out of the pen.
I'd really love for Montero to have a great year as a catcher in AAA and allieviate any worries that he won't be able to do it at the MLB level. The more time that passes, the more I'd rather just get Crawford at the end of this year and stop worrying about Mauer.
