Agreed. I'm going to miss Hideki a great deal.

Pending Halladay's approval of a contract extension, SI's Jon Heyman reports that Halladay is going to the Phillies, Cliff Lee is going to the Mariners (King Felix and Lee together...wow), and a package of prospects to Toronto.

Damn. No Lackey or Halladay for the Yankees.

Call me crazy, but I'd rather have Lee than Halladay. Doc is older, has an injury history, will be more expensive, and is not playoff proven.

Both are phenomenal pitchers, but I just don't really understand Philly's motivation here.

Maybe they figure they'd rather pay Halladay than Lee? I guess they couldn't afford to have both.
Evidently they feel that Halladay is that much better.

Ah yes, Cashshit strikes again..lost Halladay, lost Lackey, Matsui is about to sign with the Angels Wang will probably end up in Boston too...he can put the scrubs in the 4th and 5th spots again. Oh and Boston offered Chapman a deal too.

Halladay in Philly without Lee? Cool.

Lee in Seattle? Are they actually trying to win out there? :eek:hmy:

    Matsui in LA.

I didn't like Lackey either, so let him go pitch with those douchebags. I'm sure he'll fit right in.

So far, I don't have too much of a problem with what's going on.

Even the Yankees operate under a budget. They don't have the payroll or the prospect depth to acquire every good player on the market.

The defending world champs still look pretty damn good from where I'm sitting.

Haha, are you really upset that the Yankees don't go out and get every good player on earth?
Just last year we get CC, AJ AND Teixeira...we got Granderson this off-season. We're World champs. I doubt our GM is through dealing.

I'm going to assume you're fishing/trolling/ or joking.

It's amazing... all you guys are in here having a rational baseball discussion and all of a sudden Don comes in and shows why he earned his award. He acts like the Yankees are the Mets ... He whines just like one of us. .... Newsflash Don, your team was by far and away the best team in baseball this year and they are even better today then they were when they crushed Philadelphia. They are still leaps and bounds ahead of the Sox. Don are you sure your not a Mets fan mascarading as a Yankee fan?

And Cuntman forgot to fire that fool Girardi, too.

    ETA:
Aside from wins being an unreliable stat to quote, I don't think it's that simple. Most pitchers, even the good ones, have a somewhat tenuous hold on their mechanics. It's easy for them to get out of whack. You see it all the time. The good ones can make adjustments in-game, and the truly great ones rarely have them go out of whack in the first place. And these are professionals who spend the better part of their years throwing baseballs.

Wang was still performing well right up until he hurt his foot, regardless of whether you think he was trying to strike too many people out. It was an injury that prevented him from doing any throwing - or even conditioning - for an extended period of time. I think he just didn't have his mechanics back to a comfortable point, and it was probably because he wasn't in the same physical condition he was in previously, and had to compensate. So now you're messing with multiple variables in an already complex biomechanical action. I'm not surprised it had adverse effects, either on his performance or his health.

And while I hesitate to call him a finesse pitcher, Wang mainly relied on having one pitch... one pitch that was very, very, very good. Without that pitch... *shrugs*... well, you saw what happened.

    Yes, really, no beer.

He was one of the best position, thanks to his defense and high OBP.

He would have been the ideal left fielder to replace Damon.

Who gives a fuck about Mike Cameron?

    Curtis Granderson > Mike Cameron.

Hell, in terms of the DH spot: Johnny Damon > Mike Cameron.

hopefully this contract brings down Damon's demands. Similar enough players for their contracts to be similar, except Cameron is an asset in the field, not a liability.

I'm still under the impression that Damon will return to the Yankees next year, and if so, I have absolutely no problem with this lineup, with Damon able to sub in at LF when Cabrera/Granderson/Swisher need days off,
    1. Jeter, SS
    2. Damon, DH
    3. Teixeira, 1B
    4. Rodriguez, 3B
    5. Granderson, CF
    6. Posada, C
    7. Cano, 2B
    8. Swisher, RF
    9. Cabrera, LF
