I know dude. You love the game. It's all good.

I miss games too. I just try to catch whatever I can. And whenever I'm in the car during a game my radio is tuned to Sterling/Walrus.

I don't know which is better though. I would have absolutely agreed with you like 20 years ago. When it was Kay and Sterling on the radio (or even better, when White and Rizzuto were on the radio) I would say definitely yeah.

But now, with Sterling making infield flies sound like towering homers, and Walrus going ga-ga over people like Damon, it's hard to deal with.

I know the Angels are really high on Morales but that is a huge gamble. They have an unreal farm system but there must be an offer on the table that we really don't know about or they plan on signing Manny and Dunn. They could probably get both for what signing Teixiera would cost. Manny is asking for ridculous money but Dunn while won't come cheap is a bargain for what Boras wants for Teixiera. You don't get the avg but you get a guy who hit's 40 HRs every year. As a psuedo Angels fan I'd like to see them grab both.

How? They are currently 45 million below it now. At least that was what was reported last week after signing Burnett and Sabathia.

I would have been really surprised if they did but then that leaves the question of what they will do with the lineup. It just isn't good enough the way it is.

They are not $45M below last year's payroll. Add up everyone they have right now, and it's closer to $25M under last year's payroll... and that's not counting arbitration, accelerator clauses, or signing Pettitte.

oh that ugly boston cu*^ ruins Yankee games no doubt. I meant in general, baseball is great on the radio. sitting on the deck drinking a nice peppery cabernet and grillin(no beer, thats for neanderthals) with the game on. great shit.

Well, I'm a neanderthal in the summertime grillin' and listening to the game, but yeah, I definitely agree with you. There are few joys like sitting out in the sun with the bbq fired up and the game on the radio.

Well, maybe not Mets games. I'm not entirely sure how 17a can stomach that crap. I tried a Mets game once. Gave me the runs for 3 days. Never again.

The Yankees had 88 million come off. Since Cots hasn't updated the total yet for '09 and I am too lazy to do it myself for every one of them I'll just assume that the number I read was right.

At those absurd numbers let him go. The Nats won't know how to deal with him in 8 years anyway because their franchise is so new.

Cot's has updated the players, if not the total. Where do you think I looked for the numbers?

Again, you have to account for the arbitration, accelerators, and that fifth starter spot. Even if they're not currently a part of the payroll, there's no way they won't be.

I agree with you. This guy is so delusional he thinks the Yankees could sign Teixiera AND Manny.

    http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/28355251/

And Heyman says a deal is near but he has no clue who the team is...lol.

This says what IATA says above about the Nats leading.

    http://masnsports.com/2008/12/the-nationals-may-have-taken-t.html

And I read in a blog that Boston radio(whatever that is) reported that the Sox have pulled their offer. I haven't see that in writing though.

Who is getting Arbitration this year? I saw where Wang signed for 5 mil and avoided it. I don't think Cano or Cabrerra are eligible so I'm not sure who is. Going through the individual list I don't see hardly anything in escalators for '09 either and even if they sign Pettitte for 10 million as expected that would still leave them about 35 million under '08 unless there is something I am missing. Of course I also read where they don't want to be where they were in '08, they would like to be at 180 million. That is a whole different discussion.

I don't care if it IS the Yankees, there's something just wrong about. For a sport with such a heavy-handed players' association, I can't believe there's no mandate for that money to go back into the game.
