I'm sure he'll back someplace just not with the Mets. Likely a bad team that wants to try to play their fans off as idiots and say "Hey we signed Pedro Martinez" maybe somebody like the Orioles, Reds or Nationals come to mind.
If Citi Bank renegs on its deal to pay the Mets 20 million dollars a year for 10 years for naming rights, CITIFIELD, the Mets will have to rename the new ballmark and the tons of publications and signage. What a mess. On second thought, they probably would keep the name intact for at least one year.
Citigroup doesn't have to "renege" - I believe that there are outs after 1, 2, and 5 years. Nothing will happen this year, and if at some point in the future they exercise an option to leave and the name gets changed, who gives a damn? It has happened plenty of times before in plenty of places.
AT&T Park in San Francisco is on what? It's second or 3rd name in 5 years? And are there any pics that display where the foul lines are at Citi? Those look incredibly awkward.
Yeah, that picture really makes it look like the foul line is either up against the stands with absolutely no breathing room, or the foul line looks like it should be IN the stands.
Oh, and no discussion on what Heilman said? Apparently, he basically told the Mets "start me or trade me."
Drew some rough foul lines on there... If it's classic straight lines out: If they are funky lines: Can't say I'm a fan of the second option. I don't even see how it could be approved. It eliminates line hugging shots, for one. Secondly it's a gigantic hazard. I just hope I am wrong.
I can't imagine it would be the second option - the warning tracks will just be in fair territory where the stands jut out, as in your first diagram.
The same thing he said after the 2006 and 2007 seasons. Personally, I have no problem considering it, since he obviously is not an effective reliever. If they're not going to start him, then they should trade him.
The perspective of those shots is kind of skewed cause of the angle they were taken from, they're not top down.
Unfortunately if he could stay healthy he'd be a very good fit. The problem is he isn't healthy. Ever...... If I was going to grab somebody from the Dodgers it'd be Beimel, he has been a very good middle relief guy for the Dodgers. You bring on Beimel and either Fuentes or Krod and you instantly improve your bullpen by quite a bit.
