That's just a brutal picture, for a few reasons. But...but...he had a strong arm. He could throw the out with zip. The defenses couldn't put 8 in the box and stack the line. They respected him because of The Deep Ball.
That's the type of QB everyone seems to want around here b/c, as we know, nothing is more important than arm strength.
Wow, Eddie Bell. One of my first favorites, the tiny WR of the mid 70s. Tupa has a morbid place in Jets history, we probably should have stuck with him in the NE game instead of putting Mirer in.
6 Joe Prokop Bubby Brister Ray Lucas Doug Brien 6 has not been a kind # in Jets history, thankfully Clemens changed to 11 so he has a chance.
Wow, thats a real whos who of crappy past Jets there. Thank god Kellen and his laser, rocket arm switched numbers.
6 is my least favorite NFL number and that has nothing to do with crappy Jets who wore the number. It's just an awful football number. Of the 101 different numbers 6 is probably the worst-looking one.
I think he did run down the left side of the field and that he was the holder for a FG attempt. I don't remember much else about the play, though.
You take that back right now! Pat White is my favorite football player and he wears 5 and it looks just fine. Jeff Garcia wears 5 and it looks okay. PFHOFer Paul Hornung also wore 5.
I believe that was the '89 opener against NE, we still lost that game en route to a horrific 4-12 season that cost joe Walton his job but that was a great play. That was also the debut of the jets banner around the field covering up the blue wall. 5 Pat Leahy Don Silvestri Brooks Bollinger I am shocked I was able to find a Silvestri pic and a punting pic no less when h only punted or us in 1 game.
That's why I remember it, I was at that game. Beginning of the Jeff Lageman era. That Prokop play was the highlight of the day, we were down 17-0 at the half. I think Stanley Morgan caught a TD, but I'm not sure about that. Leahy had amazing longevity if nothing else. I never trusted him in the clutch, although as he got on in years he made a few big ones.
Unfortunately I think that Prokop play turned out to be the highlight of the season. 4 Louie Aguiar Glenn Foley I couldn't find Pat Ryan and Dave Jennings in #4.
