He did and didn't at the same time, those 4th quarter defeats killed us and he was as responsible for those with some very poor QB play at the worst possible time to do it. I've never particularly liked Carr either, so that is also awful to read lol
Carr always had great stats, but got a bad rep since the Raiders haven't won. However, after they dumped Carr, they lost a lot more than when they had him. The Saints this season is a perfect illustration of the impact Carr makes. With him they are 5-5. Without him 0-7. So, he does make a huge difference. Now, he is not a type of guy who can win on his own and carry a team on his back to play-off victories, but it is a fact that he made his teams significantly better vs replacement.
tbh I always thought he'd struggle in NY, not saying he was bad but you always hoped for better but then again we are still sitting and hoping.
Steelers insider yesterday went on Pittsburgh sports radio and said Rodgers and the Steelers haven't spoken in weeks. She said Rodgers "may not have the appetite for an offseason program" and is "more likely to retire" than join a team he doesn't view as a contender, insinuating that the Steelers may fall into that category -- It seems very Rodgers-like to retire, become a podcaster and tell everyone he would've won the superbowl but the right team didn't call him.
Rodgers went on the McAfee show today and sharply criticized Glenn for the way Rodgers' tenure with the Jets ended. https://nypost.com/2025/04/17/sport...r-contentious-meeting-that-ended-jets-career/ I can't say I'm surprised. You had to figure that sooner or later, Rodgers would spin the narrative to make himself the victim. For those of us who aren't Rodgers' fans, this just shows that the Jets made the right call in pushing Rodgers out.
I love Aaron Glenn. It appears Rodgers really thought they were going spend hours begging him to play lol. I guess maybe thats what life was like with Bob Saleh
He also trashed the Packers on the way out. Not a good breaker upper The Post article has a Rodgers quote as "I don't give a $%@! about messaging". OK dude. Can't think of any past situations where he took issues with messaging from the organization about anything... Good riddance.
You know that if the Jets had actually told him they were moving on over the phone, he would have complained publicly about how disrespectful it was to not do it in person. One way or another, he was going to turn this into a "poor Aaron" narrative.
thats what sociopaths do. and he will hate on the jets for the rest of time. good riddance, im so glad this thread got moved out of the jets forum and to the nfl forum. haha right where it belongs, not our problem anymore. thank god.
Rodgers didn't like getting dumped, and Glenn didn't beat around the bush and fired him as soon as he got there, because the decision was already made by then. No need to waste time, and it was the correct decision. At the same time I don't think anyone would be happy to travel across country just to be told right away you are fired. So, I get the action/reaction from both sides. Now it is time to whoop Rodgers and Pitt (where he will likely end up) Monday night season opener.
Hundreds of players get cut in the NFL every year in “20 second meetings.” Idk why Karen Rodgers thinks he’s above the game
I thought what Glenn did was very respectful actually. He greeted him, brought in GM, asked if he was planning to play. When Rodgers said he was interested, he informed him they were moving in a different direction, which was the right thing to do and AG was very honest about it. I also don't see an issue with Rodgers flying in. If he did it over the phone, Rodgers would like it even less. Face to face was very respectful I thought. Then he offered to give give any messaging Rodgers wanted. This was very respectful and considerate. Aside from actually telling Rodgers they want to keep him, I don't think there is anything else Glenn could have said there to make thing better for Rodgers. From Rodgers perspective, it comes down to getting fired. I get it, it is not fun, I understand why he is upset. And, unlike other players, he has a big ego and a platform to bitch about it. Kinda how he bitched about GB when they decided to move on. Except back then there was still hope he is great Aaron Rodgers who is coming of a down season, while now it's clear he is mid level QB at best and downhill slide from there. He is a grumpy old man, who is understandably not happy. But father time is undefeated, and sooner or later Rodgers will have to come to terms that he is not the same guy as before. He is not there yet though, so he gets upset when he is treated how he should be and is bitching a lot when he is. And it sucks to see because he is one of the best talents the game has ever had and he actually wanted to make it work here. But ... it just didn't. Disparaging a former great Jet player who is a HC now plus mentioning bad things about the organization, which catered to him for the most part of last two years sucks.
Not to mention that we have also only heard the story with the spin of Rodgers, a guy not known for being completely transparent in his "messaging."
Even in Rodgers' version I think Glenn did a great job. I understand Rodger's didn't perceive it that way, but there is something positive to be said about informing him face to face instead of over the phone, not beating around the bush, and then offering to give favorable messaging that he would approve. I really cannot find anything wrong. Even that "you don't know me" exchange, I thought favored Glenn. Rodger's said he doesn't give a shit about the messaging, but Glenn doesn't know that - that's exactly the point, they don't know each other, so he generously offered it to him. That was very respectful of Glenn actually even if Rodgers didn't care about it. And as far as picking his brain about the team, I highly doubt ANY coach would want to pick the brain of a player he just fired. Usually firings are just that, firing and moving on. No brain picking there. So, AG to me came out great in that story, even from Rodgers' account. Rodgers himself though - less so, though I can understand his frustration as well.
Ya think there was maybe a reason Rodgers broke his silence on the McAfee show where there would be no meaningful follow up questions and nothing but pats on the back?
